Mike McDonald (TIMEX) Quits Poker

He made a long blog post saying that he is not going to be a proffessional poker player anymore and probably go back to university like David Benefield did. He also says that he has enough money to basically retire. How the **** does this 20 year old have enough money to retire? You need 4 or 5 million IMO to retire which I doubt he has. http://blogs.cardrunners.com/Timex/w...o-go-from-here (Link to blog)

lol at having arbitrary "must have" amounts in order to retire.

I don't see why it's doubtful that he has $4mill+, between playing, staking and perhaps investing it's totally possible.

Excellent blog Mike. Traveling the EPTs is a sure path to burn out. Best of luck.

I said IMO. Meaning thats what I think is necessary obviously everyone has different lifestyles and needs different amounts.

As a financial professional, I can tell you that $4mm (or even a lot less) is plenty to retire on if handled correctly.

It makes me very happy to know that I did my part in helping a 20 year old retire.
