Merge quietly eliminates most of limit holdem tables

Last night, Merge eliminated $4/8 and $6/12 limit holdem for all numbers of players as well as eliminating heads up tables for $15/30 and above. What this means is a mid-high player hu player who used to sit at $4/8, $5/10, $6/12, $10/20, $15/$30, and $30/$60 now has just $5/10 and $10/20.

I know no-one is going to write a petition for bum-hunters and this is not big news to 90% of you. But the fact that a major poker room can eliminate less popular games overnight with no warning in order to make room for more profitable games is a bit unnerving.

this sounds like an unlikely reason, the internet is a pretty big place.

I could see eliminating some of those lower stakes in order to combine the player pools.

But I just opened the client and it's showing me 30/60 6-max.

Edit: didn't check hu

The internet is a series of tubes. Obviously the hu LHE tables were clogged with poker chips, horse races, and porn. This unclogs a lot of tubes.

Seriously though that sucks for HU LHE specialists, and i hope it's not a trend.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant clearing out unprofitable tables in order to direct fish to ones with a greater ROI.

The sooner limit hold em dies the better, shockingly boring game

Probably dumb as heck question, but could it have anything at all to do with the recent New York District judge ruling, and subsequent interpretation?

4/8, 5/10, and 6/12 was dumb in the first place. Removing 4/8 and 6/12 doesn't change anything

Awesome news. While the execution is less than to be desired (unless there is announcements somewhere that were missed), the result is great for the poker economy, more sites should follow.

They are consolidating the LHE tables to help consolidate the player pool. This is part of a wholesale overhaul of the LHE ecosystem which is also expected to include a reduction in LHE rake on Merge. Expect to see more changes in the coming weeks.

Slightly off topic, but it appears that the LHE Poker Maximus game has unfortunately been removed as well

If this is the case, I'll have to start playing there again.

in the virtual world... why would you eliminate tables to make room?
it's basically infinitely scalable if they wanted to.

Not that you're wrong or i care or have an opinion, but based on what reasoning?
