His insecure bragging about his wealth and status, the former of which is mainly inherited and the latter completely imagined, and constant talking down to people he considers beneath him are intolerably obnoxious. There's no reason to think this is any sort of feigned persona as opposed to his sincere feelings about himself and other people. The idea that "the real Matt," is a mild mannered good guy is ridiculous. He's the same ******* 24/7, he's just a little shyer in person.

There's no evidence the accusations in the OP are legitimate, but it wouldn't be out of character. It's likewise perfectly believable that these accusations are fabricated by someone who's out to get him.
