If Newhouse actually had a Jack, they would have been all in after the flop or on the turn for sure.

I think the problem with Newhouse's shove was Tonkings intent with his turn check, which was give Newhouse a chance to bluff. Once he already had 'hes bluffing' in his head, the river shove repping the jack which increased the probability Newhouse didn't have one and thus further convinced Tonking, was suicide.

Ya I found that completely stupid. How do you take all that time off and not play any poker/study?

He was moving and twitching around like he had been up for 4 days on a Ritalin binge.

At least that wasn't brought up during the exit interview.

Exactly. If you have a J there, you want a call, not a fold.

Looking at the stack sizes he should have just been passive. There were some really short stacks who had to act. I would have waited for one of the short stacks to make a move or bust. I think his play was pretty good reaping full house though.

How much was he getting paid for that interview? If it wasn't north of 50k I would have said I'm done. That had to be brutal.

This sort of thing can be pretty gut wrenching (ie going from such a high to such a low) and I hope Mark seeks professional help if he gets down over this because PTSD is a real thing.
Final tabling the main event back to back, Jeez is he ok?

Last place in a HR sit'n'go two years in a row is how he is seeing it.

Yeah that's only because cameras were on him. I'm sure he flipped out at some point. Tough spot in the last hand, but if I were him, I would've at least waited it out for 1 or 2 people to bust before I really gambled with a bluff like that. Can't blame him for the play though.

In the pre final table interview he talks about how he's gonna buy a house in the next month or so and then in the post interview he says he's gatta figure out where he's gonna live. He looked like a guy who thought he'd won the lottery only to discover that he was 1 number off.

Pretty brutal, even with several big scores he's still not secure financially.
