The tweet wasn't all bad for him though:

You could tell from his facial expression that he was in a state of shock. I think he realized his life just peaked.

Can't believe he busted in 9th again. Got to be soul destroying!

Surely going in with his stack he should at least be realizing his equity. Missed it because I fell asleep, but I'm assuming he got himself in some spots before eventually bluffing it off?

He played a hand poorly. It happens. Mark Newhouse you are very entertaining to watch and we still support you.

This sort of thing can be pretty gut wrenching (ie going from such a high to such a low) and I hope Mark seeks professional help if he gets down over this because PTSD is a real thing.

Why is this a thread? All this was/is being discussed in the Final Table thread.

He should make that tweet every year then.

My favorite comment was Dnegs commenting last night that Newhouse doomed himself with that tweet for thinking negatively.

I can't discount the whole "putting it out into the universe thing," after all I don't know the precise math, but I think its somewhere around 1/50,000,000. Also, psychologically, you think it might have helped him avoid ninth especially with a decent chip stack, by being especially patient early on, and yet he didn't. When he was making his play with the 10s, who knows maybe he's thinking it has to work because if it doesn't hell finish 9th again.. Or something. Just saying, it could have affected his decision making in some way.

LOL at anyone who thinks finishing in 9th place back to back years in the WSOP ME is bad in anyway at all, no matter who you are.

Im sure finishing 9th two years in a row was a wicked pisser for him. With that being said, that a hell of a run two years in a row.

Also, I think beating him up over busting 9th is a bit results oriented. Im willing to bet there was some solid reasoning behind his shove on that river. I tip my hat to Mark for playing like her wanted to win the tournament, not just "not bust 9th".

Way to go Mr. Newhouse, I remember when you used to play the 50NL games around Chapel Hill/Raleigh

Yeah, he played pretty spewy pre. I don't remember him getting out of line post outside of the bustout hand (I think I missed a hand where he lost a fir amount calling off with a small pocket pair)

But yeah, his VPIP was pretty high if I remember correctly.

Still one of the sickest things I've ever seen with back to back FT's in these size fields.

I think the worst part for him is that while people seriously congratulated him at the table for his 9th place showing in 2013, now there will be an awkward silence before they give their considered analysis of his bustout hand. After the 20th time, he will want to blow his brains out.

The main thing though (as in any hit-or-miss endurance activity) is that adversity makes you stronger. If he is wise, he has moved on to preparing for PCA already.
