It's just a case of if 1 player joins with a shorter stack than everyone else then they are at an advantage so everyone sits with the minimum to avoid being disadvantaged. Even if 3 regs start a table who would all be happy to play 100bbs, if they were to do that and then a recreational player sat with 40bbs, the table would probably fill with 2 other regs sitting with 40bbs and the table starters would be at a disadvantage. I still prefer 100bbs and would play that if the other regs wanted but I'm comfortable enough at 40bbs now so I'm fine just playing that when it seems like the best course of action.
