The topic of conversation was in regards to the prison system, not everything Islamic. Even if it was, there are over a dozen ways of spelling Mohamed and they are all counted IIRC when looking at most popular boys name AND most likely the vast majority of Muslims have that as a first name, so it's not a level playing field in name comparison. (I'm not arguing for/against a growth in Islamic belief in the U.K. btw- just pointing out that isn't what our conversation is about.)

If you want an objective view on racism then they may be better sources!

I would say you need a deeper understanding of how people's minds work if you're asking such a niave question. Most people with a world view and biases that fly in the face of evidence have a way of circumventing logically thought processes in order to convince themselves that their deeply held beliefs are accurate. They brush over contradictions and proofs and they genuinely don't think they're telling lies for the most part, although it would seem likely that sometimes they're aware of it.

As far as biased media goes, there's going to be a higher ratio of lies/exaggerations:illogical thinking behind their articles compared to
an individual's personal views of course, for obvious reasons.
