Hey folks,

A bunch of people have been telling me to respond on the 2+2 forum regarding your comments about our show, "Living the Life". Here I am, ready to take the anticipated abuse, but would much rather answer your questions and comments. A little about me...as well as working as a producer for the last 8 years, I am an avid poker player, both online & live, and have been fortunate enough to be a winning player throughout the years. As someone mentioned in this thread, yes, I do play a $70 afternoon tourney regularly at a local club, but I've also played lower & much higher stakes as well. Poker is poker, and the money is still green. As a player myself, I can tell you that nothing would make me happier than to make an amazing poker show and movie.

Firstly, I am prepping a poker movie, THE GRIND, to shoot late this year, which I think most players will appreciate. On the same note, I have to be able to appeal to the vast audience of non-players as well. The fact is, I'm tired of seeing father and son going to the WSOP and they end up heads up with a straight flush vs. royal flush....?!?!? Also, as seen in another poker movie, you cannot spot someone across the room and put them on pocket 66 based on the fact that they scratched their nose. That's absurd.

Regarding our current reality show, LIVING THE LIFE, we’re categorizing this as a lifestyle show more than a poker show. Networks in general are very scared of the word poker, and outside of specific networks like GSN, GameTV, Spike etc., most networks just don't have an audience for poker. On the flip side, many networks have a huge audience for reality TV. Apparently, only about 0.6% of the reality TV audience will already know and follow the game of poker. With those stats its very tough to gear the whole show towards poker players. This means that a whole new group of people, male and female, will want to start to become poker players. All you grinders out there will be happy to know that you'll be getting a whole slew of fresh fish at the table to help pay your rent. I'm confident that just based on the fact that you'll be seeing your world that you know and love, you'll be able to relate to the material on screen more than most.

As for Trishelle & Amanda, regarding your thoughts about them from their previous shows, please try to put that aside. This is a new show, a new concept, and a new world. I assure you that they are both at the tourney to make it as deep as they can and make as much money as possible. If you're at their table, please don't hesitate to try and bust them out, as I have no doubt that they'll try to do the same to you!

If you have any further thoughts on the trailer, or what you would like to see in the show, please don't hesitate to post them here.

Best Regards,

Josh Kimmel

You can't just put two people who look good and have no talent on a show and expect it to succeed. Recipe for disaster. Trailer looked godawful

I'm a big hockey fan too and watch every game and follow all the stats....but I don't write in the message boards for that either. Truthfully, I've just never really been one to post that much on forums....maybe that'll change, who knows?

I'm not trying to judge Trishelle but she got famous by having sex on a reality TV show. But by casting her its putting a salacious vibe into the project. Mixing that with poker seems a little muddled to me. Why should I care about some attention whore's poker tournament results? I realize everyone who doesn't live in a cubicle is trying to make a reality TV show about their fascinating lifestyle but this doesn't even seem that interesting on paper. I saw a commercial for a series about guys who build exotic fish tanks and another about people who do taxidermy. I don't see myself watching either of those but I would watch those before this.

I don't give this much chance. It somehow seems like there is opportunity for movies and shows about poker because it used to be underground and mysterious. But the reality is a lot of that mystery is gone. It's more like a regular sport now. I wouldn't watch a reality show about a couple barely profitable tennis pros, even if they were as hot as these two. So why watch it about poker?

Please make a post if Trishelle does bikini mud wrestling to raise a stake. I'll watch that. In fact that would be interesting if the girls had to somehow use men to get a stake and then play in the tournaments. That would be some drama and intrigue. But I'm not going to watch girls play poker tournaments just cause they're hot.

They unfortunately relate poker directly to other "gambling" games like blackjack, roulette and craps. They don't want to have something on their network where they feel they are supporting gambling. I don't agree with their thought of poker in any way shape or form, but it's their network and their money, so you really gotta adhere to their rules.

so you probably cannot portray poker as it really happens.. Instead, it's gotta be "reality" TV with a bare minimum of reality..

That was accidental.. i'm not trying to be a comic.

@Deuces McKracken The fact is that both Trishelle and Amanda have a large following in the reality world....regardless if you love them or hate them.

Because we are not legally allowed to show the hole cards, you'll see very little hand for hand action at the table. What you will see is them traveling around the world at every event, and the trouble they may get into before and after the tourney. Truthfully, as a creator, I don't care if one of them busts out with QQ vs. 73o....but if she goes upstairs and smashes the TV in the hotel room out of frustration....that's interesting to me!

I admit to ignorance as to the girls' personalities and to that they have a following. Maybe I don't have enough information to handicap the show's chances but I stand by my comment about the poker aspect not being enough to carry a reality show.

I'll believe that...way to try to pretty-paint the fact that this show is nothing but a glaringly obvious attempt to capitalize on two desperate withering whores who can't spell poker.

Actually my bad, you're not even trying to hide that...

This show will be unwatchable garbage but if it convinces people to play poker then cool. I assume it will be a miserable failure that has no net effect on things

If the show featured likable attractive women in the poker world (idk, Lynn Gilmartin and Kristy Arnett travel the world and play poker maybe?) then it might get some poker fans, but it seems like the target audience will be bored housewives who want to laugh at 'those silly bitches who smashed the tv because they lost at gambling' rather than poker players who actually want to watch a show and cheer on the protagonists.

Your title does not apply to your target audience if it is not poker players...
maybe something more appropriate would be ->

"Around the World Chasing a Dream"

and if that is too long for typical reality viewers than shorten to

"Chasing a Dream"
