Why would it matter where they are from if it happened in Nevada? Don't pretend to be a lawyer, but I can't imagine that it would matter where they are from as long as it happened within Nevada.

Well, I have a clue, based on 23+ years practicing gaming and related law in Nevada. Only a portion of that was spent in civil litigation, and that was a long time ago, but I have some basis for what I've posted in this thread.

In my opinion, you do not ....

(a) understand that no single piece of evidence need support the entirety of a fact sought to be proven, nor even grasp the rules of evidence,

(b) understand that Nevada law likely applies to activity undertaken in Nevada, regardless of where the actors hail from, or,

(c) the concept of comity or cross-border enforcement of foreign judgments

I hope for the sake of any future endeavors in which they may engage, no one relies upon your legal analysis unless you first get yourself some schoolin', Son.

While there are a host of open issues raised under the described allegations, you've not hit on any of them as yet .... other than your aside about someone possibly being impaired. If you want to try playing Oliver Wendell Douglas again, consider whether there was a loan or a sale of goods financed by a loan or some other scenario, whether a sale of gaming chips is permitted under Nevada law, was this a poker staking transaction, what did Aria believe was going on in its regulated poker game, etc.

No idea how you could come up with that assessment.

His attorney is one of the most high profile attorneys in Nevada / Vegas.

Should be fun to see what happens.

The bigger issue here is that a judgement would be worthless. Leon doesn't live in the U.S. and likely doesn't have any assets in the U.S. He can completely ignore this and not have it impact him at all.

Good luck getting poker players to come to your casino when the whole community knows you're a big fat reneger.

Not if he gets properly served with the Complaint,

This matter is a long way from entry of judgment and probably will never get to that point, but a valid judgment properly entered in Nevada likely can be enforced elsewhere by the judgment creditor, outside the State if the proper procedures are followed wherever "elsewhere" may be.

(No jokes yet about Matt getting stiffed collecting on a bad Czech ? NVG is slipping, too many wanna-be attorneys these days.)

Matt was a very very greedy man

I know Leon is not the best player in the world but to lose that amount on a short period of time (couple of minutes as time stamps show) he was probably out of his conditions to play the game

Matt probably noticed that and tried to take advantage of it lending him money knowing he would lose it in 5 minutes

I am not saying that Matt doesnt deserve the money, I think he does

But its not a nice thing to do anyway

To be fair to Matt, he probably has been on the other side of this and borrowed a huge number while smashed out of his mind, and presumably paid it back... so doesn't speak to his character quite like if it were a nit lending the money.

Leon wasn't completely offended by my version of events and invited me down to Rozvadov to see how Kings Casino operates shortly afterwards. Expecting a James Bond villain and my own demise, I was very pleasantly surprised by the set-up there - and I survived.

Anyway, re: the current matter, I believe there will be a statement coming from Leon very soon.

We are releasing a statement on behalf of Leon Tsoukernik in order to address the issue raised in this forum.

While Leon will not comment on the specific issues raised in this thread because there is an ongoing litigation where he is represented by counsel, he would like to ensure everyone that he will provide a detailed explanation of this dispute upon its final determination.

Leon is not currently in the United States due to business obligations but is looking forward to returning to Las Vegas on July 1st in order to play in the Poker Players Championship, followed by the Main Event. He has a lot of respect for the American legal system and a lot of confidence that justice will prevail.

He would like to thank those who are familiar with the facts and circumstances for their strong support.

So basically the people selling balance bracelets and flavored oxygen out in the Rio hallways are more likely to pay back a gambling loan than the guy running the special cash game section inside?

The fact that Leon initially paid back 1/3 of the owed balance makes this look a lot worse for him than if he hadn't paid back anything at all. Kind of reminds me of the scumbags in the Yayo thread who initially offered to pay out a fraction of the amount owed. Reeks of guilt imo.

You "reek" of gullibility: Nothing has been proven and alleging whatever you wish in a Claim does not make it so.

you are putting too much stock in poker players. sheldon anderson still has poker players gambling it up in his casinos despite him spending millions to ban online poker. Also Leon most likely makes most of his money from people playing -ev house games, any business he loses from "poker players" will be a drop in the bucket.

The damage to his reputation was done the minute this was posted. Also, it looks like I was wrong about the judgement. This globalization business is going pretty damn far now. It's kind of scary that if I get sued in Czech Republic, I actually have to defend it, or they can go after my money here in the U.S. Some of these small Eastern European countries should start giving out trillion dollar judgements against Exxon for air pollution or whatever.

Leon loves to play heads up vs players he's a MASSIVE dog against. Not exactly +EV. Settle out of court. Comp Matt RFB2 for life at Kings Casino and Matt can move in.
