Ditto on the Houston clubs that are like this. I'd love to know. Please

I've been to the legal room a few times and was astounded by how bad the players were, but couldn't get any cards to take advantage of it. Finished just out of the money in the two tournaments I entered. At the cash game people were calling all in's pre flop with K7, JT, J7 type hands. I'd go more often but it's so damn far south.

If anyone wants to go to underground games feel free to PM me, I've been to most of them.
Oh snap! I just now saw this! No wonder I haven't been getting texts about the game there lately. Wow. Anyone know who the triggerman is?

I really wish we had B&M poker here in San Antonio. These "clubs" as nice as they are, always leave something to be desired in terms of security. Hard to put trust in them.

I have a real love/hate relationship with my home state.

There's a "legal" club here in San Antonio that I used to play at. Supposedly set up as a charity. They only pulled a "donation" from each pot (10% up to $10) plus $2 for HH and a BBJ. LOL. There is also a $250 yearly due to pay. Lucky for the players they only hit you up for the dues when you cashed out a winner.

Amenities were way worse than the local underground games. Only security issue was the game runner.

10 to 1 the recent shooting in Austin was industry on industry crime.

Yea Texas is great.

If they want to find him it's pretty easy. I saw him at the 24 hour couple days ago at Parmer/I35. He is a regular there as I've seen him numerous times there.

He had his game at his house near metric and parmer years ago, does he still live there?

I play there 2-4 times per week. The club is thriving. Place is full most nights. As or right now, no signs of the state shutting it down. Fingers crossed!

Do they plan on having 2/5nl in near future?

I've been playing there once a week for the last couple months.

No talk about 2/5 that I've heard. When I left at about 1 AM last night,
they had 3 tables of $1/$2 NL going, and 1 table left from the nightly
tourney. There were a group of 5 guys trying to get a PLO game
going as I left...
09-27-2015 , 02:55 AM
they still open
10-16-2015 , 08:43 AM
Any comment on softness at 1/2nl or are there a bunch of nitty type games going? Thinking about checking it out this next month.

I'm a regular there. Game is soft IMO.

They only run $1/$2 cash but it plays quite deep with most players buying in at $300 and average stack is well over $500 by midnight. There are a few whales at the game that regularly dump $1000+ in a night as well. PLO is great when it runs (they're trying to get a regular PLO thing going but it's mostly been an ad-hoc thing if enough interest they'll open a PLO table).

The tournaments are also soft but IMO the structure makes them not worth it. Levels are too short so you end up in a 30-person shove-fest and no real edge. The tournaments get people in the door though so I don't complain - just wish they could expand to have more cash tables. Most nights you have to show an hour early or you'll be on a wait list if you want to play cash.

I'm looking for a 2/5+ (up to maybe 25/50) NLHE or PLO if anyone knows of any. Been in Austin a while, but haven't looked into the home games around here yet. May consider limit HE as well. Please PM me. Thanks.

If you catch wind of an established 1/2 or 1/3 game don't scoff at it thinking it might be too small.... Many of the better 1/3 games around here play more like a 5/10 or 10/25 really. Multiple people being stuck $3-$4k at a 1/3 game here isn't very rare.

Can confirm, have played a couple 1/2 games in Austin that played bigger than some Vegas 5/10 games I've played.

any good games in houston? thank you

Every time I see this thread bumped, I'm hoping it's not because the place was closed.

The game at Texas Card House is extremely soft, composed mostly of recreational players and a few whales. Stack sizes get pretty deep ($500-$1000) by the end of the night after a couple rebuys. Unfortunately, it's a bit of a drive for me.

Anyone have any good games up North? I've been to Garza's and Jrod's... just open to having some more options on different days. PM me!

What kind of area is this place located? I saw an image on google, not positive it's accurate, but it looked a bit sketchy. Do they have any security.

I'm new to the Austin area and don't anything about parts of town.

It's not the greatest part of town, but they do hire a security guy to
sit in his car in the parking lot for the evening.
