I love Kevin Smith. His movies are awesome. Clerks I (probably 2 also, although I don't remember much of it lol!), mallrats, jay and silent bob strike back, and dogma.

I didn't know he made Zac and Miri make a porno... now it's a must see! WOOO

I attended one of Kevin Smith's speaking engagements in Calgary a few years back. It was amazing. Something that's really cool is that he tries to never talk about the same thing twice at different concerts. Someone wanted him to rehash the Superman script story from the first Kevin Smith Live DVD but he said that he never "double-dips" (which is crazy because he does so many of these concerts - and it's all off-the-cuff). Anyways, at the one I attended he told a hilarious story about how Jennifer Lopez came over to his house to commiserate after she and Affleck broke up. She ended up taking a dump in his bathroom but there wasn't any toilet paper so she used one of his hand towels. I don't think I've laughed that hard in my life. Truly a remarkable storyteller.

He did this one at his birthday Q&A in NJ as well. It was 7.5 hours long though, so can't really hold it against him. He probably doesn't double dip in the sense that once a story is on a dvd he doesn't re-tell it.

This YT video is pretty good, it's him talking about initially writing a Superman script until Tim Burton kicked him out. It's not part of those DVDs but it's him at a college.

Wish there was a link. It wasn't filmed. Just a concert at Jack Singer Hall in Calgary a few years ago.

kevin smith makes fun movies.

if you want excellent serious films, watch bergman, kieslowski, kubrick, or someone else of similar stature.

there's room for both.

he's a funny guy and seems like a decent human. i've always liked him and his movies.

lol @ screenname "askewsme"

As active as he is on the internet, i'm surprised he hasn't posted on this thread, that would be awesome.

If anybody has an account on the View Askew boards, it would be cool to direct them here (i don't have an account and they charge a one time fee of like a couple of dollars to avoid spammers...)

It's in nine parts but it's very moving and worth taking the time to read:

part 1
part 2
part 3
part 4
part 5
part 6
part 7
part 8
part 9

I'd give my left nut for a friend like Kevin Smith.

Good read thanks for posting it. When Affleck was at Promises with Mewes, was he also there for heroin?

I think kevin would like this thread, the guy has a sense of humor unlike most the people bashing him in here.

Jason Mewes (Jay, as in Jay and Silent Bob) is a sponsored player at Hollywood Poker. Spotted him logging in a few times when I used to play there and got chatting to him in the lounge there. Always seemed willing to chat for a while. No idea if he is a decent player though.

Two things i learned from Clerks II - a man can love a donkey and it's okay for a girl to go ass to mouth. You ain't getting that from the Hurt Locker.

I'm dragging this up from a few pages back, but I just had to point out how the "IQ snob" is actually a "moran":

Quote:
Although the term "IQ" is still in common use, the scoring of modern IQ tests such as the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale is now based on a projection of the subject's measured rank on the Gaussian bell curve with a center value (average IQ) of 100, and a standard deviation of 15, although not all tests adhere to that standard deviation.
