He's currently playing a $22 sng with Andy Bloch at the table too. His graph, if you're interested:

I guess being good at making films makes up for his lack of skills on the felt..

Well, in one of his smodcasts (podcast), he admitted that he thought poker was all luck and not much skill. Says he only plays his cards and hopes to make a hand.

But his movie Clerks is one of the best independent movies ever. It's a great story on how he made it. You have to at least respect him for that one.

( ) Clerks one of the "best independant movies ever".

( ) I respect some monkey who writes dialogue like any moderately bright 11th grader.

Considering how young he was and what his budget was for that movie, it was a great achievement. While it did not do well it theaters, it gained in popularity after it was released to video.

If it's so easy to write and direct a movie, why not do it yourself? It made him rich. Why not you?

Bc I have some self respect.

Who says im not going to become rich doing something else?
(not teh pokerz)

That I would never work with the devil make money...
(Ben Affleck obv)

Hitler was rich in 1944....how'd that work out for him?
(ok, this is nonsensical but ive been up for 40 hours and since im not rich yet have no comeback)

If you think DOGMA is a well written movie you are considered functionally ******ed by the DSM-IV.

you sound like an adam sandler fanboi

it was well written, there are alot of movies that are better. Kevin Smith made awesome movies worth watching just for lulz. If you can't find humour in his dialouge, go *****. fwiw clerks is still one of the most popular independant movies ever made, not the best.

No, you are wrong. Like his 90's pal Tarantino he is a much better writer than director. To be blunt he couldn't shoot his way out of a paper bag. Visually I can't think of a worse working feature director. (Wait... just thought of one - Brett Ratner)

Tarantino has dropped off pretty badly but not as badly as Smith. Smith was good in the 90's and **** thereafter. So, are you right? In a word, no.

Pull your head out of your ass, then watch a Kevin Smith or Tarantino film and tell me that its NOT all about the writing. This is true of their good films as well as their bad films.

Tarantino is god. You have no idea about directing.

On the other hand, Clerks was fun, the other films Kevin made are all crap. Just think of mallrats.

Not only are you wrong you sound like a buffoon as well, AMIRITE?

Kevin Smith isn't exactly the spiciest with his recent movies, but he does have a lot of reasonable stuff like Mallrats and Dogma, and Clerks is pure gold. It's not even close the movie is a ****ing gem. If you're not a fan of Clerks or can't appreciate it, you should go to eBay and buy a sense of humor asap, and probably a personality too.

I don't appreciate your ruse.
