When flipping a coin I always choose tails. Always. Tails can't lose.

I am taking bets on which old timer (if JohnnyC can be called an old timer) DS will level you guys with next on the Stuey over Ivey thing. He can't use Barry for obvious reasons. I am guessing Action Dan is next. Sorry David if this is a level killer. The DH one could still be made funny; almost as funny as the aftermath of reactions.

Also, Mike Sexton is out. He's been on record many times saying no one ever was better than Stuey at NLHE.

In other things that don't matter/aren't provable.......
I pick that Tupac would KO BIG in a cage match.

He thought for ten seconds and then said Stuey". I asked him I could quote him. That made him think further. You could see him visualizing this hypothetical match in his mind. He shakes his head and says "you know they play so much alike". And then five seconds later he says "but I gotta go with Stu".

I have zero opinion. But I would like to point out that those who point to the advanced age of the Stuey choosers as evidence of their bias and their ignorance of the modern game, that, even though those are legitimate points, there is also the point that only the older players have seen both players play.
WHO THE FU*K CARES???
soooo what you're saying is two people that don't even play that much NL anymore think that there may be one person in the world THATS NOT EVEN ALIVE that could beat phil ivey HUNL???

WOW great insight david, thank you so much for these fascinating tidbits.

could you please find out who phil helmuth thinks would win that would really be the icing on the cake.

After watching Johnny Chan limp the cutoff for 6 straight years on tv i don't rly think he can judge what good is. unless his play on tv is a level or something

This is why David's levels are so funny. The resulting criticisms of two guys with 10 bracelets each by a bunch of internet wannabes.

I bet Mr Chan wishes he could play more like you. You should challenge him heads up.

The problem with these threads is that no one can look at things objectively, they can only comment on what they have seen. The truth is that people protect their own, on this forum if you dis Durrr everyone is going to attack you, if you go upto an oldschool guy and dis Stu then they will defend him. Neither is correct

This reminds me of that old Jordan commercial where they list the number of shots missed, games lost, turnovers, etc. Ivey gets bounced out of tournies by noname players every year. No one is so dominant at anything that the mere idea of them losing should cause outrage... except Ivey of course just kidding.

This could have been an interesting thread of people comparing play styles instead of just bickering, but thats what the internet is for I guess.

Seems like LarsLuzak beats Phil every session... Who would be a favourite in a live hu match?

I think for every great player there will be another, not neccesarily as good or w.e. who will even fare way worst against said player's opposition, who completely owns said player's soul at hu and the cycle repeating itself.

They watch HSP Season 5. I don't think they are going to change any time soon.

I don't know why I never read that before, pretty good stuff. I like how he does clarify alot of what he says on his blog.

PS: his challenge is messed up! 7 card razz pot limit, that is rough stuff.

He's clearly on some kind of wind-up. I'd get banned in about two seconds if I posted exactly what I feel/think about Sklansky.

I think Mason wants me to post stuff like this once in a while. But seeing as how you don't I am going to think long and hard about whether I should continue to make such posts.

Mike Sexton was part of the conversation as well and adamently picked Stuey. But as others have said everyone already knows this.

If I may spritz a little gasoline on this Unger/Ivey thread, do 2+2'ers think Unger and Ivey are in a two-man-only-class and as far ahead of the rest of the world's poker field as Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky were ahead of their chess world?

Like I said above, I don't think anyone has that large of an edge over the field. I think even against what people would consider a rank below Ivey like DN, Helmuth, Cunningham, would be basically a coinflip heads up. Even players towards the middle of the pack would win a decent percentage of matches against the elite players. But in the end the better players will come out on top.

Many people have said that poker is a game of pushing small edges. I think the only way to prove a players worth is to look at their career winnings and records. And that makes players like Doyle look way more impressive than someone like Durrr who hasn't had the chance to stand up to the test of time.
