He just announced in his blog that he is joining up with the team.

The first order of business with my position at Ub has been to help aid in the release of not only ALL of the hand histories from the super-user scandal, but also the accounts that were used to perpetuate the scandal itself and the actual physical names of those individuals who we believe to have been directly involved in disparate ways with the actual cheating.

I am disappointed.

As most of you know, two-thirds of this has now been accomplished. "

I could be wrong, but I only count 1/3 of these things being done.

I'd expect more from a relative of Bear.
09-22-2009 , 12:19 AM
lol.
09-22-2009 , 12:20 AM
I'd be shocked if he got all that done and expect to see him fail and give up on all that in less than a month.

So Vanessa can con PS into signing Chad Brown , but Barry can't get Joe a deal ?

RIGGED !
09-22-2009 , 12:22 AM
douche, meet douches
09-22-2009 , 12:27 AM
wonder how much he got paid..........
09-22-2009 , 12:28 AM
I can't even listen to pokerroad now after hearing this, knowing they'll be shelling for UB from time to time. It's a big disappointment, I expected better from Joe. This is pathetic.

Joe Sebok Discusses Ultimate Bet Signing
Quote:
PND: How much did the Kahnawake Gaming Commission’s (KGC) release of the Ultimate Bet cheating scandal report influence your decision to sign?

Sebok: It was one of my insistences before coming onto the team. We needed to get those superuser account names out in the open and make accessible all hand histories to all players who request them. The only way to close that loop is to simply be completely transparent. UB had done a poor job in the initial go-around when the scandal hit, but hopefully has learned now and will make up for it with their actions moving forward. I also want to see the names of other associated cheaters with Russ Hamilton brought into the light. I understand the legal ramifications for why it’s not as simple as releasing them outright, but am working with Paul towards doing as much as we can to get those names out there. I think it’s important for the poker community as a whole to know those names, even if it’s basically impossible to prosecute them as things stand today. It’s all about doing the right thing and UB will definitely be doing the right things moving forward.

Definitely not listening to pokerroad anymore.
09-22-2009 , 12:30 AM
Booooooooooooooooooooooooo!
09-22-2009 , 12:32 AM
et tu, Cub?

A deal with UB, the ultimate "Zero Play"
09-22-2009 , 12:33 AM
I certainly hope it was well worth it. There will certainly be a price in the future.

IIRC , they haven't released anyone's name other than Russ Hamilton because they've been cooperating with some unnamed authorities. I'm sure that once these unnamed authorities hear that Joe Sebok himself wants the names released, that they will be forthcoming ASAP.

Here's what the list will probably look like, in part:

Russ Hamilton
Sam Lisu North
Thor Milnauss
Milo Thrussan
Thom "USA" Rilns
Monti Shursal
Lars Monthius

So I'm new, obv. But where exactly would a guy like Seebs best be utilized? Poker Stars, Full Tilt, ... doubt it. He's an honest guy who can do a lot to benefit poker. With a site like UB that has Annie Duke and Helmuth behind it, do you just kiss its integrity good bye or do you make honest efforts to rectify the past? Seems like he might be the Lebron of ethics that saves the franchise. I hope he helps give online poker the positive PR it needs to get federal legislation passed to benefit us all. I'm a newbie, but I'm just saying.

Ya, you got us all convinced!

As usual NVG'ers view of the big picture is whatever is directly in front of their faces. Considering Joe's reputation, he gets some benefit of the doubt as far as going into this with good intentions goes. And I certainly can't fault anyone for making a dollar.

Convinced of what? Fine keep perpetuating doubt about the legitimacy of sites and see how well that translates to voters and political constituents in getting any kind of legislature passed. If a site can't rectify itself of a poor image and negative associations, neither can the industry. The PPA can gather a gazillion signatures and raise millions of dollars but if the online community is going to be stubborn about its own culture, we're going to have a hell of a time convincing the bible thumping crazies that think we should all be in hell.

Sorry, hi everyone. I always read but never join in. No time like the present.
09-22-2009 , 12:53 AM
Yeah but Ultimate Bet stole millions of dollars off poker players. Everybody knows it. Joe Sebok has clearly taken this money and whatever he might claim in terms of getting information into the open or whatever he simply has taken their money. Wonder who 'Pipi Longstocking' is....

i said this over at pokerroad and i will say it here.

if it's about money, just say that... or, don't say anything at all.

Don't feed us bull**** about knowing that ub has finally cleaned up their act and it's going to be great from here on out. (coincidentally this is always said as someone collects the paycheck)
09-22-2009 , 01:10 AM
and I just unsubscribed pokerroad from my podcasts.
