Ivey's $1m Vegetarian prop bet (is now over)

Here's a link for a bit of context. To summarize, Phil Ivey is going vego for a year in a million dollar bet with Durrrr.

Does anyone have any idea how one would prove such a bet, or is it possible these guys just trust each other enough?

And would any meat lovers here front up a huge amount of money for such a bet. I think for it to be a real challenge, the bet should be to go vegan for a year (no animal products at all).

Who would bet their net worth or at least $100,000 to go vegan for a year?

Re: Vegetarian prop bet

I eat pretty well, and a fair bit of meat since I married an Italian. They love all the cured meats, salamis etc. It would bloody kill me, but for a $100,000 prop bet, I reckon I could manage Vegan, and I would lay odds in favor for Vegetarian since life can still be good with all the cheeses and eggs etc.

Re: Vegetarian prop bet

being a vegetarian sucks, but i remeber an interview with ivey at some restaraunt and he told the waiter to just bring him whatever because he doesnt like food or eating all that much and he only does it cause he has to or something like that, so i guess if you dont like food this might be an easy bet for him.

Man, that guy doesn't seem to get pleasure or sadness from anything. He loses a $1.1M pot and he is totally level. Makes for a great poker player, but I wonder what he REALLY loves doing.

Yeah, sorry they can, I threw in the term Vegan in there too. Vegans can't eat any thing that comes from or is made from animals. Dairy and eggs are out for them. They have soy milk and tofu instead.

Re: Vegetarian prop bet

Funny how they shape it to look like meat though (Tofu burgers, Veggie dogs etc). I hate em...

In the heads up between durr n sammy they were talking about it and apparently ivey tried to offer durr 50k to end the prop but durr declined so it's still ongoing lol...crazy how anyone can turn down 50k after a couple of weeks in a bet like that! Ivey will blaitently do it aswell

Durr should be careful. I reckon that the first few weeks would be the hardest for ivey. He might just get over the cravings soon.

Reminds me of what they said about Stu Ungar in his biography. Probably not the only similarity between the two.
