As many people in the poker community know, a few years ago I gave up a life of trying to min-bet my way to big profits on the intertubes to take up cage fighting. As some subset of those people know, I am also fighting this Saturday November 24 in my home town of Vancouver BC.

Last time I fought, 2+2 was awesome and I received a ton of support in the treads, Twitterverse etc. After that fight ended in my favour, I really felt the love of the poker community and was proud to represent them in the fighting world. I'm still far from a great fighter and still a nobody in the fight world, but I'm working hard and doing the best I can.

I am super, super, super ready for this fight. I am basically injury-free, been super dialed in on health and fitness, and been pushed like hell by my teammates also fighting on the card (and another local card next week). I'm definitely the best fighter I've ever been and am ready to deliver. I hear my opponent, despite his 0-1 record, is a good fighter as well with wrestling experience. His loss came a couple months ago at a 140lb catchweight. He weighed in officially at 131 and his opponent now fights at 145 so he was probably giving up 20lb or so. It was his team that wanted this fight to be at 125 (which is the reason I have a big bowl of kale, spinach, hard boiled egg, skinless chicken and no dressing in front of me right now). I love carbs as much as the next guy and I am very angry about the fact that I am forced to cut weight, so I plan to take it out on him.

How old are you and what are your long term fighting goals? Are you driven on making the big leagues (UFC, Bellator, and others), or are you content taking local fights the rest of your career?

How much money and time have you directly invested into this sport? I know it's tough to give a definitive answer -- for instance, I'm not sure you should include that your food that costs 2-3x as much -- but try to break it down for us.

Just how massive a role does ones heart play in MMA? Im fascinated that there are guys like carlos condit who have never been knocked out or submitted in their professional careers and somehow recover from bad hits- just seems incredible to me. gl in the fight.
