They certainly do have access to and the preference for AK47's.

Citywest is about a mile from Tallaght which is a housing estate bigger than most towns where the 'wild west' gangs run the streets and regularly rob drug dealers etc..
If you think that the people who robbed this money are drug addicts you're wrong these people are career criminals. The reason they have AK47's is that they are lunatics. They also bomb eachother attack each other with machetes etc..

Seriously, can you show when the last time there was a bomb attack in Dublin, or the last time a person was shot with an AK47 (or even arrested in possession of one).

Also, the vast majority of people in the hotel wouldn't of been from Dublin, or even Ireland for that matter. Big international tournament remember.

This was most likely an opportunistic hotel employee. Just as would happen at every other tourney in the world. Except Vegas, where you could add hooker to list of those that might rob you. Although, you'll likely be in the room as passed out for that one.
