more often then not, i disagree with most DN comments on this board and his blogs but i will always appreciate the fact that he's willing to take the time to share his opinion. Even if you argue his motivation is greed, i doubt he needs to go out on a limb as much as he does in order to get his endorsement deals.

Sure but if the number of runners keeps going down will this tourney still be "special" ? What if it gets down to 50 people? Wouldnt it just go away at a certain point if it has problems drawing?


And if poker TV wants to survive ( i dont know if it can) they need to create new stars. In 2002/2003 there were no poker tv stars until they were created. What i dont understand is why is that only people that hit in 2003/2004 matter and no one else does?

This thread is so uber annoying lol. Ok doesn't anyone remeber the TOC created by Mike Sexton? It was a unique event designed to test all around skill. Players played Stud, Omaha H/L and Limit Hold'em until they reached the money. Then, the event switched to NL hold'em and played out from there.

The 50K Players championship at the WSOP, you can call it HORSE, but that's not what the event was designed to be, replicates that to some extent. I could understand some of the outlandish arguments if the event was ALWAYS straight HORSE, but that's NOT the case!!!! The event was ALWAYS supposed to me a mix of limit to get to the FT, and then NL when you get there.

Also, for those too dense to understand the ramifications of the event not being on television, look at the type of players that would NORMALLY play if their sponsors put up money, but didn't. That creates value for ALL of the players since the majority of the sponsored players are -EV. Has nothing to do with "being on TV", but has everything to do with sponsorship dollars that are gone from the event.

Limit poker is ****, boring to watch, boring to play. They should make it pot-limit HORSE, or better yet HOORSE with PLO, then we'll have a big buy-in event that will generate some excitement. The fact that sign-ups for this event are way down tells me that many people agree with me, and this event needs to be altered or scrapped entirely.

This reminds me of a backgammon tournament I played a couple of years back. I played my A game, start to finish. After battling through 8 opponents over 3 days I made the final. However I was disapointed when I discovered that 'to draw a crowd' the final had been changed to thai kick boxing. Having no legs put me at a severe disadvantage, needless to say I lost.

On the plus side, four people did watch me get pounded into the ground, I find it highly unlikely that any of these people would have watched if the backgammon format would have been used for the final, so I am now a strong supporter of this format
