I see the lineage of his ascendancy as far as Wikipedia shows it, but I don't know that he went to college. Did he just seem like he had a good mind for casinos and get his first job as a consultant and just impress his way up from there? I mean, he is obviously very smart, but unless he went to school for something along those lines, this seems a pretty incredible story. It's not like there's a lot of other poker players heading up casinos. My guess would be he was a consultant as a poker room manager or similar, as many pros become, and showed major business aptitude from there.

In the 70's, he was a regular at the Golden Nugget. Steve Wynn took aliking to him and looked to Bobby as a mentor to his aspirations of becoming a pro poker player. They became good friends and the rest is history.

that was exactly what i was about to say...u start ur own company, u can call urself what u want and hire whomever, but for a company to come to you, do a CEO search, and hire you above people with college degrees would NEVER EVER EVER happen in today's society, let alone i dont think a college degree is good enough meaning some sort of advanced education beyond college most likely needed, vegas included...... i mean talk about putting ur neck out on the line hiring a guy with little formal education....not to say that u cant be successful without a college degree, but the CEO job path is not one which those without degrees will excel in.....

Maybe he just went to the Library and read all of the books they would have told him to read if he had gone to college, then he'd be like 99% as smart as a college degree holder AMIRITE?
