The poker world is the most gossipy business I have ever seen - I knew within hours (less than two) that it had happened. Also keep in mind that I basically sleep about 2 hours total per day (never over 30 min) and so I am pretty much around all the time. The odd thing is there were rumours of a break up coming.

Frankly they made a massive mistake that another game made less than a month ago - you don't hold a massive poker game (3 tables going all night long) in an expensive condo/complex - you are giving out pass codes - people are wandering around - basically if you lived on the premises would you want people wandering around all hours of the night - thats 30-50 people in and out on a given night.

If they had kept it at one private table - maybe twice a week - they could have gone on for years in the same location but bigger is better is not always so apparent.

BTW...THEY WERE NOT BUSTED - they were politely told to shut the game down for it probably violated the lease agreement of running a business on the premises - never mind the fact that the occupancy was far exceeded and I am sure that there were parking issues as well.

I played there once - way over my head for bankroll for it was really a 10/25 game (1/3 blinds) - I had 5k and knew that I was under bankrolled when I saw some of the biggest gambler's in Houston at the game. One in particular is one of the biggest "ballers" in houston and a legend himself - I don't think I could have carried enough money with an armor vehicle to outplay that player.

Probably one of the nicest setups I had seen in a long time - good people and good host and I am sure (and already heard) they will find a better place to play.

If someone asked me about charges of a scam and I knew it was on a site....(and it was false ie I was innocent and had either resolved it or it was totally bs)

a - i would go to that site and find out exactly what I was being accused of
b - If there was some misunderstanding - I would post all relevant facts of how the situation was/is being resolved
c - Confront those that have accused me (we have that right under the "court of opinion"
d - And assure that this was either an event that never happened or an event that got out of control / misunderstanding and make sure that my integrity was clean

So far on the site we have seen
a - "a superb owl" event - they have been warned of this before to not use the trademarked name - that disappeared from the site
b - A Phil Hellmuth event - that also has disappeared and tweets to Helmuth have gone unanswered (who ever would think PH would turn down a chance to advertise his "presence amongst us mortals"
c - now a 6-8 week delay due to construction (I have seen the location - it is about the cleanest room I have seen and all it needs is tables and a counter put down and it is ready to go...It will take longer to make chips than to get that room ready.....

Well - instead we get an evasive answer that does not address the accusation....

I would love to see a legal poker club in Webster - it would cut down my Louisiana travel time and make for a competitive ground for more players to come out and play - lets face it - with 3.1 million people in Houston...15 tables isn't gonna cover the market if this club idea gets going.

Nuff said?...I thought so

Michael just posted about Mint Poker and it's opening yesterday on Facebook. It links to their main page - http://mintpokerclubs.com/

The FB post said the "Grand Opening" will now be March 1 (was originally supposed to be Super Bowl weekend). Offering free one month memberships to try it out the first month. They want you to give them your name and e-mail and say a VIP host will contact you.

there are close to 3 million people in Houston - plenty of room - but - lets get back to the question of the reports of several times that people were not paid

I have been in this business for 20 years and I have seen them come and seen them go
I can say that the town of Webster is not gonna have a 24 hr poker operation in their town

I posted to give Mr Eakmann a chance to refute these accusations so that this thread can be put to rest
When challenged on facebook over issues - the thread it is attached to is deleted by mint poker
If one is innocent or falsely accused - wouldn't you want to set the record straight

odd that you were the one that started this thread - are you an employee or representative of the organization?

A daily membership of $20 and $10/hr isnt exactly gonna be a massive savings of a normal $10/hand max rake and $10/hr to play a tournament just is unheard of.

i will humble retract my posts if Mr Eakmann will come forth - even in another forum of how he has resolved all these reports (there are several)

Mr Eakmann messed up in Houston before in or about 2005 with a Phil Hellmuth Event (Aces and Angels) and the local authorities had to shut it down due to the fact he did not research the conditions he could operate under.

The LAST thing that the Houston poker scene is another scandal adding to the mistrust of the general public to poker club operators.

Also LOL at starting MEGA STACK and DEEP STACK tourneys at 8:00 PM. And it looks like 20 minute levels, with 10 minute breaks every hour, gotta stretch that time, get those rentals. Also 30 minute dinner break after 9 levels. So 30 minute dinner break at 11:20 PM, including on the Sunday night tourney, gee thanks!!

What kind of dumb ass question is that?

I am the one who started this investigation and did all the back ground work.

I posted the number from their website.

You did absolutely nothing wrong. It's not your fault the dip**** doesn't know how to post quotes and then still seems completely oblivious to the fact that he made a posting error after reading your response.

The words - I'm sorry....I was wrong - comes easier as you get older - Mistakes can and often are made and frankly one realizes that everyone has the right to their views and opinions - that is why we have discussions to let us express them

you are correct - the greater houston area is mega huge but frankly I don't think anyone will need that many tables to cover even 0.1% of that market

Now Im beginning to think this is a data mining trap...lol...conspiracies abound

I have posted in facebook in no less than a dozen groups an alert about this organizations HOWEVER I also post for Mr Eakmann has the chance to come forward and explain the reports on the internet.

So far the only ones coming forward are more people reporting the same behaviour and negative reports of dealing with him.

NOT ONE PERSON has come forward refuting the claims or even someone reporting a favorable report on this person.

The internet is a powerful tool - it discovers TOOLS and hopefully nobody does get ripped off in this - I will continue to do everything in my power to make life and business uncomfortable for those that will seek to do bad things to the poker community at large. On the opposite side - I am the first to promote and defend those I know are good people and mean to do good things.
