Re: Hollywood Dave at the Wynn

This type of "collusion" is extremely common in the LA cardrooms when two "friends" of the same foreign nationality end up in a pot together at the end. However, for the most part the players involved are fishy and good for the game, in full games these situations come up rarely, the players honestly do not believe they are cheating, and so the situation is condoned. I have been in several such games that I thought were very +EV when full because the players in question were very bad overall, despite giving themselves this edge occasionally.

However, whenever the games get short-handed this edge becomes humongous to the point where I felt the game was no longer +EV, so I would just quit or ask the other players to play eachother.

If the players in question colluding are competent, which is very rarely the case, I would probably not play in the game even if it is full-handed, unless there were other live ones in the game making it +EV despite this handicap.

How is this humongous? If you know that your opponents are betting, raising, and reraising with very weak hands in the hope that you will fold, you should have a large edge as long as you make the appropriate strategy adjustment, not them.
