Get Ansky's Doug Polk's, Luke Schwartz and Ivey's for the last 2 years they've played....put them next to each other and see which cliff is falling closest to a straight fall off a cliff line?

I don't play PLO, so what is the recommended bankroll for HU PLO?

I'd say that unless Stern has very deep pockets and is trying to improve his game by his choice of the toughest opponents around, then at some point it's got to be worrying. :/

Pretend you're a poker journalist, you have to write content, you noticed Dani Stern is getting humped badly by Berri Sweet (or your editor tells you).

You have to write 500 words on this, and make it informative, entertaining and as factually correct as possible.

In real life you'd have an hour for this max. I'll give you 24 hours...GO!

Remember, you're going to be judged on this tomorrow

Not lying in the title to trick people into clicking the article would be a good place to start.

The rest is irrelevant because I'd just kill myself at this point. Your industry is useless and you should get out while you can.

Haha, it's like a ****** picnic here sometimes! Can I join please?

So, should every industry/game/sport/whatever do without it's reporters/writers/journalists/etc or is it just poker? Is there any poker-related writing you like? Why all the hate? (I'm a journalist, I ask questions. I plan to turn this thread into an article and get paid for it -and then write another one based on all the hate the first one gets... )

Well, someone might say...because otherwise you're just a little ***** with a big mouth?

As to your other point, today I've written a big piece on the PKR meltdown, an article on the WSOP 'tanking rules' update and an interview with a big-name pro. What have you done for me lately?

Yeah I know, writing on a website about something I quite enjoy from the comfort of my own living room and getting paid for it is the kind of thing nightmares are made of isn't it? Suicide is the obvious next step.

thing is .. all the nvg studs think poker journalist are losers, b/c they sit hours at their computers, grinding for news, while wearing boxer shorts. which is obviously not as cool, as sitting hours at the computer and grinding poker hands in your boxer shorts. maybe there's also some frustration involved, b/c a 'poker journalist' could write about other stuff, while a poker-pro has problems to adapt that fast.

anyway ... i'm looking forward to comments, that poker journalists are just bad players and envy the 'real' pros as well as labeling copy writers as fake, b/c they didn't graduate 'journalist's university'

also fingers crossed for more derail about ethic standards & click-bait journalism and some politard comments about fake media in general

All HSDB "articles" are based on NVG threads.

Having worked in it, I think there are some legitimate gripes to be had with the industry. But I also think some of you get way too carried away. To say that it has no place is absurd, unless you long for poker to be a niche hobby like Bridge or something.

lioncub really should thank OP. This thread probably created hundred of new clicks on HSDB from people who read the article and thought "hey, this isn't too bad."

Way to go OP!

Nope. Haven't seen the thread. But yes, very occasionally we, like pretty much every other poker entertainment website, find a story from poker forums because people who play poker and know stuff about poker sometimes break news on poker forums.

Weird huh?

So basically you two engage in a **** pursuit (lol not going to call that a job) for chump change, and get mad when being called out?

I mean, you consider yourself a journalist/writer for sites that cover online poker, and specifically, winnings of online poker players and don't even understand the function of variance in the game- that is pretty alarming lol

Also parading into NVG to defend yourselves and to engage in some **** flinging, you guys have some huge ego that is more appropriate as an oil shiek than peasants collecting garbage money with click bait articles

i love you guys tho, keep up the comedy

Journalism is such a great industry that the people who work in it call potential consumers ******s and laugh about it. No wonder there have been so many layoffs industry-wide.

Poker doesn't need help from the media and it never has. The media is even less important now with the rise of social media and all the self-reporting that goes on in places like NVG. That's why you clowns need to crank out garbage like this, because the last frontier of "real" journalism is getting people to care about your published opinions. And that's a difficult task to pull off, even when you actually know what you're talking about.

Wow, what a weirdo! haha I rarely write about online poker btw and don't work alongside lioncub for what it's worth, but have no issue with his writing at all.

I'd love to know what you do for a job Johnny? Something where reach-arounds for your boss get you bonuses perhaps? Think I'll stick to my chump-change thanks

Weird that you accuse me of having a huge ego whilst being self-important enough to be so dismissive of what I do for a living, call me a "peasant" and scoff at the "chump change" and "garbage money" you believe I earn. You're just a delight aren't you? As I recall I simply joined the thread to say that no, I didn't lift the article from a forum thread and also that I had no problem with whatever assessment the OP's had of me as a writer.

FYI I am very aware of the function of variance, it was just a throwaway article to showcase the sites functionality, not an in depth analysis of Dani Stern's poker prowess or lack thereof.

High Stakes DB was recently sold to new owners.

That's why everyone's graphs are visible now and they are writing thrash like this.

The new owners are self serving wankers.
