Not like them. They usually have a history of sucking up to players (except Gus Hansen and that's understandable) but with the sensationalized headline they obviously wanted to make Stern look as bad as possible. Maybe Pokerstars backs HSDB (like a Soros sort of thing) and this is their payback? https://www.highstakesdb.com/7846-da...us-hansen.aspx

Probably just a slow news day for their journalists.

Should use quotations for "journalists". Whoever that was just lifted that idiots thread from a few days ago who said he has to be going broke by playing BERRI so much and that he must be running out of money.

Yeah first thing I thought of while reading it.

I wrote it actually and hate to disappoint but I haven't even seen "that idiots thread" let alone lifted anything from it.

I just noticed how bad supernova9's graph was when I wrote the weekly round-up on Monday and wondered why he keeps playing BERRI when he loses to him so often.

Luke Schwartz called me a pigeon recently so I'm happy to add your assessment of my journalistic short-comings to the list...

What's wrong with you people? Stern is a big name, everything lioncub wrote seems factually correct to me, so what's the problem?

Oh yeah, I'm also a poker "journalist" and write about anything and everything connected to poker - should I ask on here if it's OK first whenever I get an idea for an article or asked to write something? ffs.

yes, NVG is the place for everyone, who wants information about the poker biz ... plan to open a poker room? nvg has plenty of great ideas, how to play poker like back in the boom days! do you wan to hire a celebrity for your site? don't listen to marketing analysts, NVG got you covered! ... so @ all of you so called 'journalists' (i guess most ppl here aren't familiar with the word copy writer ... but anyway) ... post your ideas, get approval, post the draft and get valuable information and only then put it online!

I'll follow that path in future NerdSuperFly

I get some great information on here when I'm researching ("researching" as some wits here will no doubt term it ) and I quite often quote you guys in my articles, attributed of course.

Once again if this was about Isildur or Sam Rostan having a big downswing or anyone else, NVG wouldn't bat an eyelid, just because it's one of their own beloved they can't handle it. Article is pretty accurate.

The article nicely summed up the thread. It took no time to read. I enjoyed it.

What he's doing is being a gossip columnist, not being a journalist which is why I recommended it be in quotations. It's also extraordinarily convenient that there was a thread started on the exact same premise a few days ago. It's total trash.

How about the click bait headline? "Dani "supernova9" losing bigger than Gus Hansen" I was all excited to see someone down 25 million and then get that trash?

Hahaha! So sorry it doesn't meet your exacting standards of what proper journalism should be my friend!

Not sure why you don't believe that I didn't read (and still haven't read) the thread you're talking about? I have used threads on this forum and many others as sources for my articles in the past and no doubt will in the future so I would have absolutely no problem with admitting it.

I've written many, many articles about the matches between Dani Stern and BERRI SWEET over the last year so I'm probably more aware than most about how they are both faring online - I wouldn't need to read a thread to tell me about it anyway.

As well as penning everyday poker news stories, another part of my job at HSDB is to use our USP (our unique data, graphs, statistics etc) and to create informative and (occasionally) entertaining articles from them and hopefully encourage some of our readers to take advantage of the site's functionality for themselves.

We're not CNN, we're an entertainment website!

OK, big man, here's your NVG challenge for the day...

Pretend you're a poker journalist, you have to write content, you noticed Dani Stern is getting humped badly by Berri Sweet (or your editor tells you).

You have to write 500 words on this, and make it informative, entertaining and as factually correct as possible.

In real life you'd have an hour for this max. I'll give you 24 hours...GO!

Remember, you're going to be judged on this tomorrow

I presume he was paid at the staggering rate of $70 per word.

FWIW, I thought the article was fine. The first few posts in this thread made it sound like an awful hatchet job full of fake news. It could have been so much worse.

It's not plagiarism if nobody can prove you lifted it.
