I think they will eat the loss. Moving forward Stars should revise their statement on what they intend to do with the extra money saved by these rb cuts.... as the explanation was rather weak. Running Coop's are profitable ventures for Stars and in no way a gift to consumers. When run well they are mutually beneficial.

I don't see any hypocrisy. The complaint isn't about Stars seeking to maximise revenue per se. There were no complaints when they increased from zero to the dominant poker site by attracting players with good software/service/economics. No, the complaint it is about the way they abuse their semi-monopoly and use underhand methods (like hiding rake) to do so. I would be equally critical of regs who used scummy methods (like multi-accounting).

If the grocery store where you shop raises their prices, do you:

A. Protest and organize a boycott with the goal of getting the store to lower their prices to a level you think is reasonable.

or

B. Take your business to another store.

Since girafganger et al have chosen option 'A', it would seem that they have concluded that there is no other equivalent place for them to take their business.

The only thing this proves is that Stars knows where the equilibrium is and clearly they still have room to push with more penny pinching if a 5k still runs and covers it's guarantee even when most high stakes regs don't play it.

Did some of the people who said they would boycott end up playing in it? Or is the poker economy too big for even this sizable number of regs to make any difference?

A lot of the entrans are from satties and from people which wouldnt play this tournet if theres wasnt a boycot aka they play it cuz beast mode regs will not .I thinked that it would overlay but the guarantie wasnt that big for a 5200 buy in series tournament ,i guess thats why they reduce the rewards so they can boost its guarantie for 2020 Kappa.
