Gus Hansen Has lost $16m+ on FTP - Page 7 - Poker News

The idea that all these famous pros are rolling in money is a well known myth and just fantasy. Truth is most are busto or close to it, apart from the few with their heads screwed on like Antonious etc. I don't buy into the claim Gus has made all these amazing investments and has money pouring in. Gamblers rarely invest they gamble it, especially a clear degenerate like Hansen.

Blom was supposed to still be loaded with the billions or watever he won from those mystical untrack euro sites and we recently find he's staked and in big debt. Same old story really.

I'm not really in touch with poker, when did we find this out?

Gus must really be hurting. Back in 2010 or whatever when he went on that downswing of 5 mill I remember he released a statement, something , like "Gus is taking time off to be with his family" and it sounded like it took a lot out of him. Now suddenly he's down 16mm. IDK his finances but unless he got some big boost between then and now he must be in dire straight. IDK the Macau games could be very nice to Gus so obviously I don't know.

so... basically, posting anything about anyone's online winnings or losses is moot, because he could be staked, playing on the company's account, letting rich whales play under his account, have a percentage of opponents, whatnot...

Back in the US online heyday I was playing small stakes on Party Poker and some railbird said "Hey go to Full Tilt watch Gus Hansen. He's up $6m playing PLO, he was down $2m two days ago, he's been playing for 3 days straight"

Ungar was a genius in that he could read live players and do math calculations in his head in a heartbeat. He remembered EVERY CARD that had been played. His Gin Rummy brilliance is well documented.

But he was an addict who loved action and would dump chips like it was water running out of a faucet. And golf bets. And the ponies. And hookers. And blow.

Not a happy ending.

I'm pretty surprised no ones unearthed some news about where all this money comes from. OBviously the high stakes community doesn't care as long as he plays, but its really nutty that no journalists or anything have delved into his finances.

I remember talking to johnny chan once about gus. I flat out told him there's zero chance gus is a winning player. This was like 7 years ago. Chan stood up for him, saying he plays a different type of poker. Yes, that type is 6 bet garbage hands and lose 19 mil in 3 years.

PLUS the 18-million-what-so-ever record on HSDB isn't 100% correct (they didn't track every game for long time, and imo even they track 'everything' they aren't that accurate)
