Best burgers are HSG, ReFuel and anywhere else that grinds their meat in-house and can serve them med or med-rare.

Fatburger probably the best fast food option around, but Vera's has a few good options on their menu.

Lol, this is the "where to eat in vancouver" thread now.

Burgers. Splitz on Main and 23ish. Better then Vera's.

Mexican. Ya, it totally sucks here for mexican but La Casita on Abbott and Cordova is the best Ive ever had.

"The Reef" is a decent place for something different and it near Splitz on Main and 22ish.

If you want good burgers go to Romers Burgers on 4th and Burrard.
Or even Moderne Burger on Broadway

I live in Kits also, and def want to enter the $330 NL event 1 at Edgewater

Edgewater is the best place to watch UFC if you are into the fights, in the past there have been decent giveaways and food specials as well.

It's in a movie theater type setting in the stadium club. I believe seating is at 5pm.

One of the best burgers in Vancouver is at Crave on main (significantly better than Vera's, Splitz, etc). Great pub-type/casual food in general there, solid selection of beers, and prices are super reasonable. Also better than any of the chain restaurants (of which, as someone mentioned, Cactus Club is the best, followed by Joey's). Downsides are that restaurant is small, can't make reservations, and there's no TVs or anything, but what can you do?

Favorite pizza in Vancouver is Candia Taverna out by UBC, it's thick and greasy. For more authentic pizza somewhere like Marcello's or Lombardo's on the Drive is probably best.

Mexican in Vancouver is generally terrible although I haven't been to La Taqueria yet. Reviews are pretty good but I take them with a grain of salt because I don't think most Vancouverites even know what good mexican food is in the first place.

For sushi Miku downtown is sick good, it's every bit as good as Tojo's (and better than everyone else) and half the price.

Best place to drink beer in Vancouver is Alibi Room in Gastown by a mile.

If I was to get into the restaurant business in Vancouver, I'd target pizza or Mexican. Both are sorely lacking ATM, though there's a few decent pizza places. Nicli Antica Pizzeria on E. Cordova is very good.

La Taqueria is as authentico as it gets in Vancouver, and the location is convenient to the New Amsterdam Cafe . The soup at Don Guacamole's (next door to Miko Sushi) is good. The rest of what I've tried there is average at best.

Agree on Miko Sushi. Ate there twice last week and can't get enough. The BBQ geoduck and Maguro Ae are both outstanding. Tojo's rocks hard, but Miko holds its own for a fraction of the price. We had five people eat and drink there Thursday for what it would have cost for two at Tojo's.

Alibi room is the ONLY place to drink beer. Except maybe The Whip. Both are very expensive compared to the States.

miko and miku are different places fwiw.

Miku is high end, but a newer style tojo(from what I've heard, haven't eaten there)

Miko is traditional japanese, is vvgood, and like you said a fraction of the price. The bbq salmon belly and bbq salmon neck is damn good too.

For italian I really like tavola on denman and robson

Also agree on the chain front cactus>joeys>>>>earls>moxies

gonna have to try alibi room real soon

What's the main site/s that people use to research restaurants or other places? I use Yelp in big US cities, but it doesn't seem to have fully caught-on yet here in Vancouver. While the popular restaurants get a lot of useful reviews, the smaller local places I want to research often have 10 or less and aren't particularly useful.

Toshi's Sushi on Main + 16th is probably the best in Van. Sometimes has a really long lineup though.

If anyone likes Indian food and is on the North Shore, Palki's in North Van (15th and Lonsdale) is my absolute favourite restaurant in the city

Comparing Toshi to places like Miku or Tojo's is just crazy. It's not even as good as Ajisai, let alone the really high-end places.

Biercraft (the former Stella's) is okay if you really, really love Belgians, and is even more overpriced than the Alibi Room (which actually isn't bad at all by Vancouver standards). Their brunch food is actually quite good as well if you enjoy drinking 9% abv beers around 11AM-noon.

One of the most enjoyable times of day for beer, IMO.
