Great is a great guy and a good player. Amazing how many younger players judge him by his weight and clothing, and not by his talent and "the character of his soul."

There is x amount they think he is worth to them now, and whatever amount he is willing to work for is greater then that amount. I'm sure they would have loved to keep him for less money.

There's no point bashing the other stars pros and saying he is more deserving then them of sponsorship, he was likely being paid as much as ten of the names listed combined.

I met both Raymer and moneymaker at a PS function - both were great ambassadors for the game and for PS. Not knowing what the commerical reasons for PS decision nevertheless I am somewhat suprised.

Good Luck Greg in your future endeavours.

While hate for the Greg and/or the PPA is obviously misplaced, it is hard to just discard the notion that this is another case of lol donkuments.

Such is the nature of a tournament pro I guess. You start out as a nobody like everyone else; run good for a while in the big one, bink and then everyone's on your dick.

Sign a deal with Stars; proceed to run at your actual EV over the next 7 years and you turn back into a nobody again, while several other nobodies have won the main event since you did and started to have their dicks ridden.

LOL donkuments pretty obv

When greg was captain of team usa worldcup he is/was everything I wish I could be as a pokerplayer and ambassador watching him spend hours sitting next to my 90 yearold grandma and talk blackjack strategy with her even when she was saying she stands on 12 vs a dealers 10 and greg keep listening and debating. I also learned a lot from him and I always knew he would keep up with the online generation since he always knew years ago online players style was the future. I hope him the best and I wouldn't be surprised to see him back under the stars logo sometime in the future they hopefully will see what an impact greg had on everything and everyone he has interacted with over the years as their representative.

My first PM on twoplustwo was to Greg... just asking him a general advice question.

He could have easily ignored me as I probably had like 5 posts total at the time, but he sent me a thoughtful response with good advice. Seems like a really nice guy.

His weight and clothing are of similar quality to his poker play.

Would be cool if we could get the story. Greg is alright. I think we would all agree that Mike Matasow has larger man jugs though. Oh yeah he knows poker.

I think he quit because he was working on that book about salads and had writers block.

Many decades from now when Greg passes on I hope his estate sells various parts of his skeleton so that we can all use them to protect our cards in memory of his use of fossils as card protectors.

So you are saying something that definitely involves physical stamina (especially in large field tournaments), mental strategy, and intense competition is not a sport?

Actually I heard a professional fighter say the competitive intensity is similar in poker to boxing. I've also heard it referred to as mental boxing.

I, for one, am glad. The "starspro" sign frequently means "FISH HERE!" and it was also so disappointing to see that red club and learn that it was Raymer. However, they also cut Stevesbets red club. Evens out, I guess.

^ Has never played a real sport. Saying poker is a sport is a complete joke and is blatant dissrespect to REAL athletes.

Actually I played several sports in high school, and was given a MVP award in one of them. Why do you think a lot of famous poker pros were good athletes, pool players, etc. -- it's not a coincidence.

Spelling contest or chess? These two are as much sports as poker. Poker is not sports. Period. It requires a lot of mental toughness but that doesn't make it sports.

So then you must believe physical stamina is not important in multi-day tournaments and that Johnny Chan is mistaken to think jogging, eating right, and keeping in shape helps his poker game.

Heavy drinking and going to the gym everyday, staying cool under high pressure pick-up and t-shirt selling situations, competing with Pauly for the hottest chick in the club. Confirmed: Jersey Shore is a real sport.

On topic: Perhaps Greg returns as a Stars Pro if he can't get a better deal at another legimate site. Can't imagine him wanting to become the next Prahlad.
