ok seriously, I guess people don't stay in one place forever and maybe PS is short on sponsor cash after opening the books to mega god VB but overall Greg is one of the most well respected players in the game so stars is bound to take a hit in the public eye for this.
At the end of the day I think the sponsor thing is a bit overdone when it comes to poker.
I'm sure PS can get on fine without Greg and Greg will get on fine without PS, but I am disappointed he won't be commentating on PS' EPT coverage anymore.
Doubt being a pro matters skillwise.....it's all about who is an ambassador for them, who markets the best, etc. Even if Raymer isn't the best, remember who is fighting for your ****ing rights to play poker u NVG idiots.
Seriously... The guy has done more for this game than alot of people realize I think.... GL to you Fossilman... F the haters!
I think it is pretty simple. I don't think it is anything personal against Greg as he has been a very good ambassador. Pokerstars can barely get money in and out of the USA, and they feel there are better places to put their marketing $ to work.

Seen a thread that Boku87 is no longer with ps either?
Is there a more annoying person than a PPA nuthugger?
Yes, a PPA hater.

Stars has a fairly solid lineup of pros - negreanu, greenstein, etc - who can actually stay relevant because they are still winning poker players (well, most of them anyway) who continue to show results in tournaments and TV cash games.
if Stars lost moneymaker, hachem, and the rest of them at this point, would it really make any difference? do they even feature them in any commercials anymore? i dont think so.
the interesting thing is that out of the first 5 champions of the boom era, not only is greg clearly the best, he's the only one you could accurately call a real "poker player". he wasn't world class and he wasn't a full time pro but he was definitely a poker player.
Um beyond Negreanu and Greenstein who do they really have? Elky? Liv? Rousseau? They really don't have that great of a stable IMO. I'm all for them cleaning house but they started at the wrong place. Also, they certainly feature Raymer in their commercials during the wsop broadcasts. They had one just last year bragging about how many of the past main event winners that are stars pros. Guess they'll brush that under the rug and act like it's not so important all of a sudden.
Don't know him personally, but seems like one of the good guys of poker.
Business is business and business relationships come and go. Good luck to Greg in the future, though, as he's represented the poker community well. I'm sure he'll land on his feet in whatever he decides to do.
pretty amazing Greg seems like hell of a nice fellow and is loved in poker the world by everyone. Could this be becouse of DN dislike in him, or didnt they have some battle few years ago.
this is too bad, if true. in the early days of 2plus2, greg was a great strategy contributor. he is also an underrated player imo. solid at the mixed games. i like dn, but i have more respect for greg. good luck, greg.
Greg is overweight and not the most flashy guy. He doesn't get a lot of press and he hasn't gone deep or won a WSOP poker tourney lately. He is boring at the table, doesn't insult anybody and doesn't dress very well.

A great player and ambassador for the game. I cant remember another playing doing as many interviews and stuff during the year he was champion. Pokerstars Loss.
