Golden Tee Arcade game is a skill game: skirts gambling laws

Article Link : http://finance.yahoo.com/news/rough-...031400030.html

In the world of what do you know: People (a few) make a living playing golden tee arcade golf. The article sites that since it's a "skill" game that it gets around the gambling laws in all but four states.

What kind of lobby association does Golden Tee have? Happy for the people that make the money but come on PPA..... An Arcade game can get around the UIGEA but we cant get poker to be deemed a skill game?

Sigh I miss stars...

I think they take it seriously.

Of course Golden Tee is a skill game.
The sooner people stop talking about variance in poker, the better.
It should be our little secret.

I came to post this.

It's 80% rake.

He's basically playing $5 (1+4 rake) 50 person sit and gos with a top prize of $10 and a 4 person payout.

Article said he was taking a shot for $2k. Seems pretty obvious they are betting cash on top of the rake. No rake on that...

That arcade game seem to be all skill, while poker certainly isn't. It's often said that one of the attractions of poker is that amateurs can come play and also beat the pros, because there is a considerable amount of luck involved.

ok, i see the 80% rake.. prettu unbelievable but probably not too much. variance (ie 90% of players have no hope of winning)

and how does he do 600 matches per month?

He should get rakeback IMO.

He is high volume and can play on any machine. Whoever owns the machine should pay the guy to play on their machine.

He's not really making money on the SNG style format, he's also won the world championship a few times for like 50k a pop. Plus he gambles on it with friends, and other challengers at daily tournaments. Its huge up in chicago where he's from I think.
