Pretty sick life beat.
well

1) i doubt he would have been paid the full amount right on the spot, since most of the counter side must have been poker players/degenerates just like him. not sure if this is correct, but i think degenyamine was one of the guys who bet against him, so there´s your answer lol. he might have gotten a million or two up front and a lot in a staged payments. i really doubt he would even have been paid the full amount until now. the one thing I didn´t get is why he didn´t just buy out the guy he was heads-up with. first place paid $614,248 in that one: http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/event.php?a=r&n=40098

2) even if 1) wasn´t true, we´re talking about the guy who didn´t want to run a $1m flip vs Barry Greenstein twice (hand from HSP) and who, more importantly, managed to piss away $6m in a few weeks vs Isildur. not sure how $15m would have saved him from going broke, given how he never had any inclination to "retire"

as for the "macau games", do you guys really think those games run like "ok tom, here´s your $2m, see you next time"? given how big those games play, there´s has to be an insane risk of ruin involved even for guys who have $10m bankrolls (and I somehow doubt Dwan did have that)

^ Matusow said it was at least 16m and Negreanu, Ivey, Hellmuth bet against him and probably would’ve paid fairly swiftly.

I don't think you could ‘buy-out’ the guy, since that's not in the spirit of the tournie and probably against the terms of tournament.

He didn't want to run it twice against Greenstein as Barry didn't want to take money out so it was more of an f you from Dwan, as opposed to gamboling.

Good read however I disagree that Bloom's personality is so much better than Dwan's -- I get no sense of Viktor's personality at all. He may hate the media more than Dwan.

If he wins the bracelet or not he's probably still in w/e situation he's in now.

Viktor Blom did things like no other player before and let his online poker do the talking. Totally different kind of sponsorship. I don't think that guy ever really wanted to become famous, he tried very hard to hide who he was for a long time. It was just his poker that made the headlines, hes not sponsored for the benefit of attracting the general public, its for attracting the railbirds. Personality doesn't matter so much for that kind of player.

Quite the opposite. Barry only runs boards out once, he said something along the lines of "of course i only wanna run it once, but i wanted to take a couple hundred back" to which Tom said no. Tom said no because Barry wanted to run it once (while taking money back) and Tom wanted to play for the lot running it more then once.

It was definitely an F you from Tom though.

EDIT: the dealer actually asked "Are you guys running it once" to which Tom replied i think so, then asked Barry, she asked if were running it once and i said i think so right. Barry said "yea i wanna run it once, but if you wanna take a couple hundred back thats ok" Tom said no.

around 3:52 mark...sorry i'm a noob and dunno how to embed videos...

You guys have it backwards, Dwan requested to run it twice, was denied, then Barry asked if they could take a couple hundred thousand out, which Dwan subsequently denied.

I am a huge Cliff Lee fan, and I want to tell you that you are correct, but you simply are wrong in this case lol.

^ alright, alright, it's not quite accurate (he wanted to run it twice) though the point is that he wasn't just gambling it up due to being a degenerate, as someone implied.

Happy?
