Pretty sick life beat.
well
1) i doubt he would have been paid the full amount right on the spot, since most of the counter side must have been poker players/degenerates just like him. not sure if this is correct, but i think degenyamine was one of the guys who bet against him, so there´s your answer lol. he might have gotten a million or two up front and a lot in a staged payments. i really doubt he would even have been paid the full amount until now. the one thing I didn´t get is why he didn´t just buy out the guy he was heads-up with. first place paid $614,248 in that one:

2) even if 1) wasn´t true, we´re talking about the guy who didn´t want to run a $1m flip vs Barry Greenstein twice (hand from HSP) and who, more importantly, managed to piss away $6m in a few weeks vs Isildur. not sure how $15m would have saved him from going broke, given how he never had any inclination to "retire"
as for the "macau games", do you guys really think those games run like "ok tom, here´s your $2m, see you next time"? given how big those games play, there´s has to be an insane risk of ruin involved even for guys who have $10m bankrolls (and I somehow doubt Dwan did have that)
