Looks like it's official:

“Full Tilt Poker and Tom Dwan have agreed to part ways following the recent expiration of Dwan’s contract,” said a Full Tilt Poker spokesperson.

I'd err more toward the side of bust than robust given how the durrrr challenge has played out but is he really that degen/dumb that he'd essentially throw away a 7-figure (speculative) contract to dig himself deeper in the whole in Macau?

Let's even speculative he made $50k a month. Why not just play $10/$20 on FTP, collect a CEO's salary and set yourself up nicely for the future. I don't get it.

Wasn't he backed in the Macau games?

he did post about losing a ton (his biggest loss ever) though so who knows.

He can't beat a modern 10/20 game.

Is it possible that Dwan could be signing with Stars...maybe a ole switch-a-roo with Bloom?

Re: FTP signs Dwan and Isildur as "The Professionals" (Dwan removed as "Professional"

Are you specifically speaking NLHE or PLO or HORSE or triple draw? You said he can't beat a modern 10/20. Does that imply that he would be a loser in the first session, first 10,000 hands or he'd never be a winner in the long run? Are we specifically speaking of HU, 6-max or full ring?

Clearly I'm not looking for any answer with merit and that's because there's not one. Although I agree his online game is probably rusty, it's ludicrous to assume he can't be any variant, in any format of $10/$20 online.

He was a huge winner online before Guy and sustained at these stakes for years. I'd agree that there'd be a learning curve if he were to enter the games now but if he were forced to grind NL2k for a living, I'd like his chances of being profitable.

But, we're obviously beating a dead horse.

He's been breakeven for 5 years. The game's evolved a lot. There's no reason to think he has.

So wait, if he was broke would he not be more likely to be playing online to keep his contract? It is possible to play live poker and online poker at separate times. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Nothing personal, but if you think someone who could beat 10/20 in the past, can just come back and eventually figure out how to beat it again because they did in the past, you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about - There are a lot of players who were incredibly good that are totally incapable of this.

I was thinking the same thing. On the other hand he could be huge in the hole, and his backer could be forcing him to play x hours a day to get out of it. Everything just speculation at this point. If he was playing in the game as much as physically possible and winning huge, surely he would just buy out of durrrr challenge?
