I'm hoping we get lots more legal analysis. As in depth as possible because I know how much it helps our situation.

Pretty sure you said this word for word a year ago. I'll search for it later.

+1. If DF leaves then the quality of this thread drops by 80%

How do you figure this?:doh :

if anything it just stalls the process even more and becomes more aggravating.

Re: FTP Discussion Thread (Everything but big new news goes here. Cliffs in OP)

maybe the DOJ wasnt ready for Stars offer. Maybe Stars had the game plan and caught the DOJ off guard so the DOJ said no to get their thinking straight. But if its true that Stars put 700M on the table wanting to settle theres no way this lasts much longer. Nobody throws away money thats been put in their hands, nobody. IF the reports are true, which all signs seem to point to, then common sense says theres no way this can last much longer. DOJ can counter, but once money has touched their hands, this is getting done, and it probably cant be much longer...

This was true a year ago and it's still true today. Are you really figuring it out just now?

Edit: I'd like to point out that DF and others do have and have shared information, it's just that half the people ITT don't give a damn about any other information other than a specific date answer to "When am I getting my money?" and no one is going to have that information until Stars breaks with a press release. I think a lot of people had the expectation that S:P/DF would be able to answer that question, and ended up pissed when that's not how it shook out.

You can't blame DF for other people's bizzarely unrealistic expectations.

Re: FTP Discussion Thread (Everything but big new news goes here. Cliffs in OP)

its just common sense and thinkin about it logically i guess. these lawyers are intelligent. stars owners are intelligent business men. when you have no backup plan (the doj has nothing to fall back on if this falls through) then you can proactively and aggressively pursue it, which Stars has done, by putting money on the table. Think about it, the DOJ was willing to take nothing from GBT in fines, lousy 80M spread out over years. Stars has put 700M+ on the table, the DOJ is forced to react, if reports are true then Stars has forced the DOJs hand sort of speak. Nobody throws away a sure thing, especially money, and especially when its a fair offer, and even moreso when there are no other offers to be taken. Like I said, i have no info, but this is just how this makes sense to me...

So, to be clear, you've never played poker, played the lottery, been in a casino, or met anyone who has done any of those things? Because people throw away money that's been put in their hands all the time.

The DOJ would snap decline a 700M offer if they thought there was a strong chance of getting something better.
