I understand it's exciting and entertaining, and it's the reason I come here from time to time...and yes, I do have money on FTP, 16k.

My point is that people are putting way too much weight on what randoms post here. And to clarify, by randoms, I mean pretty much everyone since almost no one here has a clue of what's really going on; we cannot even verify sources claimed in most cases.

I wouldn't really call them random.... if sources told NOAH to undelete the thread there has to be some merit behind this. With the site being up and then down.... it's insinuating something.... that stuff doesn't just happen on it's own. If the site were to go down on it's own, and there was noone who really cared about the site (b/c let's face it, with FTP not up and running who still working for that company would care?) they would pry just leave it down or not worry about it, until the deal is totally done or they get a green light to get things going again. I think that there is some merit behind that site being down today..... but yes, this is a random post just saying everything on here isn't all "random".

Hmm I find it weird that running a trace route to fulltiltpoker.net times out at the mohawk.ca router but when you enter fulltiltpoker.net into your browser it still comes up. I flushed my DNS to see if that would do anything. Does anyone know why this happens

One thing I'm thinking.... they could have shut the server off to do some upgrades or something like that? But still allowing the site to come up.... Or they are "installing" the upgrades as of right now. What I'm thinking is something like this.... when you go to a play.... the actors are leaving the curtain up so you can't see what they are doing, but they are doing the play behind the curtain. Does that make sense? Best way I can describe it.

Probably meaningless:

FTP.com is back up in the old familiar form of government seizure notice.

You can go to www.fulltiltpoker.com but not ping it.... I don't know if they allow pings though.... but if you can ping, PS and they are on the same DNS server, I don't know. Like I said, might be some action "behind the curtain". Usually if you can go to website on the server, you can ping it too. Just weird how you can't ping it though...

Could you ping FTP before? Many sites block or throttle pings.

And just because they are on the same master server means nothing, especially if we don't know where it was at in the first place. Companies that take over/merge generally give a rats ass which name server they belong to as long as they are pointed to the right IP.

Hate to burst anyone's bubble.

Re: FTP Discussion Thread (Everything but big new news goes here. Cliffs in OP)

signed a PPA petition a while ago and just received this response. Thought people might want to see what they said:

What We Have to Say About Online Poker
By Brian Deese, Deputy Director of the National Economic Council
Thank you for taking the time to participate in the "We the People" petition process. We launched this online tool as a way of hearing directly from you, and are pleased to see that it has been effective in soliciting your feedback. We understand your interest in the petition to support the legalization of online poker, and appreciate the opportunity to share President Obama's concerns about this issue.
The Administration understands that many Americans engage in paid online poker games for entertainment purposes. Online gambling on sporting events or contests violates federal law. The legality of other forms of online gambling is dependent upon the law of the states where the bettor or gambling business is located. It is left to each state to determine whether it wishes to permit such activity between its residents and an online poker business authorized by that state to accept such wagers, but online gambling that is not authorized by state law may also violate federal statutes.
The rapid and anonymous nature of the internet distinguishes online games from onsite games, such as those in casinos, and creates distinct challenges. For example, there are many means of technologically circumventing restrictions on online gambling that can allow individuals from countries where gambling is illegal -- or even minors -- to play using real currency. Online games also have greater potential for fraud because gambling websites are much cheaper and easier to establish than on-site locations, and like telemarketing scams, can appear and disappear overnight. Finally, online gambling can be used in money laundering schemes because of the volume, speed, anonymity, and international reach made possible by internet transactions. The Administration will continue to examine this issue and is open to solutions that would help guard against the use of online gambling sites as tools for conducting illegal activities or preying on unsuspecting individuals to the extent that online gambling is permitted.
Thank you once again for signing the online petition. We appreciate hearing your opinions and look forward to hearing from you again soon.

I'm trying really hard to not let your posts tilt me, so don't take anything I write personally. That said, if you really worked with "servers and those things everyday" you would know that there's absolutely no chance that PS/FTP would share the same server farm space for their websites or back-end poker servers, much less the same exact server. It's just not how things are done.

Some router/firewall along the line has ICMP traffic shut off. Doesn't mean anything.
