Kydd your life is crazy bro. Hope you get your horse situation down so you don't need new horses just have a solid stable. Get it together bruh. Its still crazy that you stake people all this money. How a guy gonna ask you for money and right you a check, that doesn't make sense. Never let nobody see where you stash the money not even your mom. Hope you find that solid team.

I was being somewhat facetious. My flippancy was directed mostly towards what appeared to be a moral statement on your part, about violence rarely being acceptable - a statement with which I strongly disagree. However, not wanting to go to prison, or not wanting to incite somebody who just might snort bath salts and eat your face while you're sleeping, are completely different and nonmoral justifications.

In fact, if you did decide to violently confront such a guy, it probably wouldn't be smart to leave him alive - or, at the very least, in a position to know it was you who went a-whuppin. As to what it might "achieve", well, if nothing else, it simply fulfills a principle of not allowing somebody to do **** like that without some kind of punishment. This principle is important to some; not so much for others. (Many who do believe in it don't think about it that way though, because they think that some kind of cosmic, karmic justice will handle punishment for them. Which I find silly.)

In any case, I do feel that, ignoring any eventual, actual decision on the matter, some degen coming back and stealing (an additional) $15,000 from you by acting nice, after you've done him a favour, is definitely an example of "close". Frankly I'd have more respect for somebody who pulled out a shotgun and demanded my shoes. At least they have the balls to own up to what they're doing, and at least then there's no personal betrayal involved, which is by far the most unforgivable angle in situations like this. Imo.

How are you not vetting your stakees properly?? I mean, it seems to me all you'd have to do to find out if someone is good at poker is have a lengthy conversation about strategy with them and make sure their thought process is solid.

I just came across this thread this morning, sorry to hear. I think it shows real class that you let him do laundry and take his belongings. Like dhcg86, it appears Flapjack1270 has deeper issues and a troubled past that wasn't initially apparent.

Staking involves trust and inherently dealing with people who don't have a lot of money. Just like in poker sometimes you make a bad read. Kydd is an excellent coach and he is confident he can turn just about anyone into a winning player and that is well founded considering he is still up 6 figs ytd from staking. Even Warren Buffet has made bad investments.

Crazy story... Da hell would you receive him in your house and stake him with no proof at all ??
Even after he loses and acts like that you still borrow money ?

And then he steals $15k from OP and he seemingly didn't bat an eyelid and even let the guy come in to do laundry? It just has to be a level... how on earth weren't you in a fit of rage when he showed up at your door? The sheer cheek of it would put me on life tilt.

We often question how scammers sleep at night and how they can do what they do but if the options were steal $15k from someone who cares as much as to not mention it when you turn up because you had nowhere else to do your laundry OR flip burgers @ McDonalds 8 hours a day for a year for the same amount - it's an easy choice isn't it? Like someone said, OP has too much money, too young ... I'd really advise you get someone to come and help you manage your money because by the sounds of it you were just asking to be robbed.
ok so the guy either lied about being a pro or maybe he just THOUGHT he was good, but regardless kydd is an amazing coach and AT THE TIME was thinking "this guy sux...but w.e ill coach him turn him into a profitable winner and its an easy fix -(just like kydd has already done with many others) ....hine sight is 20/20 and looking back is easier to say what you would have done... doesnt sound like kydd is complaining, hes just spreading awareness... kyddd knows the risk that go along with his business and impliments precations to avoid such future situations... obvioulsy kyddd can choose to ride solo at any time and make tons of money on his own, but he is staking people because its profitable to do so.. even with the accasional bull**** that comes up.

FWIW, this Dan guy most definitely has mental problems - most likely clinical, and most likely some kind of schizophrenia.

I'm basing this on:

- His creepy, eerie letter

- How he keeps his things (in garbage bags/ all over the place/ frequently loosing or abandoning items)

- The fact that he has multiple cell phones in the U.S. Its rare, and I'd bet associated with either real or delusional paranoia.

- His relationship with his family. Schizophrenics often drift away from immediate family, and get involved in poorly planned crimes.

- The fact that he knows he's a "bad person". Criminals either don't admit this, or else don't care.

- The fact that his life is, in general, a total ****ing mess. Yeah, he caused it, but whats going on in that head of his? I think its beyond being just a lousy human being/ scammer. He's probably just losing his mind. He might say just that, too.

- His laundry habits

If you (or, far more preferably, some kind of professional) think its schizophrenia, or something that is treatable/ manageable, try and get him some help. If, on the other hand, you think hes just a scammer, then try and get you money back.

Just seen this thread and didn't read it all but I think if you have 10-15k in money in your house it would be wise to spend a little on a small safe to put it in and don't give out the password to it. There not that expensive and can get them at Lowe's etc.

GL hope you get your money back.
