Re: ESPN's top 10 poker played atm...

Ziigy should've been on the list, or at least gotten votes.
I thought Brunson would be higher up (is the list of people getting votes in the order of how many they got)?

Phil Hellmuth is furious.

No love for Huck Seed? Pretty impressive 2009 if you ask me

Townsend and Ziiggy should be top 10 for sure, Galfond has hardly played lately has he?

And JP Kelly would have got votes if he was American imo (bracelets at WSOP and WSOPE).

I'm with you--Huck Seed seems to be perpetually under the radar of the poker mass consciousness. Also, I don't know if he belongs in the top 10, but Vitaly Lunkin definitely deserves some attention in the discussion. If you ask me, his accomplishments in the most recent WSOP are more impressive than Lisandro's.

I'm glad you mentioned Huck Seed. I've never understood why he gets no publicity or mention. I've always assumed that's just the way he wants it. But he really is a GREAT poker player, especially HU obviously.

""Although he's down big-time online, Dwan's live million-dollar challenge turned out to be a success for just less than $1 million.""

yup the "just less than 1 mil" feels real good right now

lose 7.5mil on line well......

Final thoughts:

Bradley: I'm not surprised by the top of the list, but more surprised by the order at the bottom. I'm very surprised to see Timoshenko make the list given the quality of players that were left off, mainly Matt Hawrilenko.
Surprised to see Timoshenko but not surprised by Daniel Negreanu? What?

It's all poker.

Baseball MVP voting or "best player of all-time" type stuff mixes hitters and pitchers.
NFL top players mix QB's, RB's, CB's and kickers....all those positions are significantly LESS related to each other than cash-games vs. tournaments really.

Re: ESPN's top 10 poker played atm...

For what it is, a random list of the top poker players.. which by itself is so hard to quantify, it wasnt bad. I mean its almost like comparing the best athletes in all sports (Manning, Lebron, Pujols)..An online cash game player literally would never play against a live tourney pro... They are different games (nevermind the fact that they a actually play different games) and how do you compare them? (Say Galfond v Lisandro.... NLH/PLO v Mixed games)

You cant really argue with the top 10, except for maybe Barry. I love Barry, but i was surprised he was so high.

As i said in my previous post, comparing Lisandro who excelled at stud games donkaments this year to Galfond who excels at online cash games (nlh/plo)...is just impossible.

edit: I understand this was made for the general ESPN audience. And for what it is....Its not bad.

Re: ESPN's top 10 poker played atm...

I think the most surprising thing is Bradley hating on Timoshenko, saying someone with his results this year doesn't deserve to be on the list seems mean for no reason.

Everything else is understandable.
