I don't have a problem with him leaving. I have somewhat of a problem with what he supposedly initially said in context given, as it's pretty rude.
So, since it is not possible to walk out of a Dane Cook show without Dane Cook actually being there, you have to just keep your mouth shut and smile if he calls you out in front of the whole crowd? Or sit thorough the whole thing regardless of your enjoyment level?

My assumption would be that Dane Cook called him out as a part of the show and he gets whatever he gets in response. He had to know that the answer wasn't going to be good, either "We are leaving because you suck" or "We are leaving because we have a huge, horrible emergency." If he cannot handle whatever the answer is then he should STFU and ignore the people leaving. And I don't think that Ericks response was particularly jerky.

Re: Erick Lindgren v. Dane Cook

To me hating Dane Cook is like hating Jonas Brothers or Twilight. Sure, I like Demetri Martin, Todd Barry and Mike Birbiglia better, but there's a big audience for Dane Cook-type material out there, he tapped into it, and as long as nobody's strapping me to a chair Clockwork Orange-style, all the power to him...

Re: Erick Lindgren v. Dane Cook

I've never heard of Dane Cook, Peter Cook though was ****ing funny. Also there are loads of great white comedians, Armando Iannucci, Jimmy Carr, Stewart Lee, Peter Kay, David Mitchell, Ricky Gervais, Paul Merton, Ross Noble etc.

This.

This isn't like trying to take down a heckler, where you have to do something to regain control of the performance. This is like trying to shoot a sleeping bear with a BB gun.

Re: Erick Lindgren v. Dane Cook

Dane Cook = rich
Erick Lindgren = rich

Once a person is rich I could care less about a pissing contest over who's more rich.

I've seen good Dane Cook routines and I've seen bad ones. He's not completely unfunny.

Re: Erick Lindgren v. Dane Cook

I would say there is a 90% chance Erick has/makes more money than Dane. It seems the people saying he doesn't don't have much knowledge about the poker world.

Also, I don't think Erick acts 'too cool'. He just doesn't take **** from anybody and does whatever he wants basically all the time. He doesn't do it in a "look at me I can do what I want" type way but in a "whatever the consequences, my time is worth more than this." He's a nice, funny guy, IMO. Dane Cook seems like a spineless moran.

Re: Erick Lindgren v. Dane Cook

John Caponera is a pretty funny white dude. I think Dane Cook has said some things that make me laugh but as a whole he isnt very funny.

The man in my avatar is the funniest comedian ever, and its really not debatable.
