Not necessarily. He likely got staked for that appearance and it's common knowledge and he says it himself, that he's broke. If he's been staked then he has a responsibility to his backer(s). And then what's left he has to live on! Plus the Ted Forrest bet he still owes for that he's paying monthly. If at all. It's simply got to be. Question is, if it is, why would DN loan 500k to a losing player? He says 'now'. Which suggests he's been owed since this player was a winning player. Which Matusow was, before he was left behind by the new age. Where Negreanu worked on his game, keeping up with the times MM was left behind. Sad story for DN and MM if this is the case. Great post. If I was part of the anti online poker lobby I would take one of the promo photos of full tilts pros and write a brief bio of each below each player face. I am sure the masses would think online poker is a great idea after seeing these schmucks

My guess for the person who owes Daniel 500k would be Layne Flack. He played at Bay 101 and he hasn't won anything since 2008. His Hendon Mob tournament winnings total from 2009-present is $96k. He also doesn't have a cash on record for 2010, and he owes FTP a lot of money. Definitely fits the profile of someone who can't win anymore.

Whether it's Flack who owes Daniel money or not, I hope he starts winning again. Was a cool player to watch in the early-mid 2000s.

Here is my take, People make mistakes it happens everyday all of us have done it. Most of us have also been in situations that we thought we could control and they quickly spiraled out of control. I really don't think this was intentional on Erick's part at all. I am sure he has the intentions to pay back everybody he owes but is in such a hole he doesn't know how. After the collapse of FTP his guaranteed income was shut off thus putting him deeper and deeper into debt. From everything that I have read on here, he does pay it just takes a long time. Now that isn't how I would do things, if I owe money I pay it when I say I will but sometimes **** happens and it does take a little bit longer. In my opinion Lindgren is still one of the good guys, he just has really bad management skills and that is what he needs to work on. He also needs to quit the sports betting and stick with poker because the guy has skill. I for one like many others am pulling for him and hope he turns this all around and honestly I think he will but it is going to take some time.

What do you guys make of "cant win anymore"? Can winnings players suddenly lose their ability? Does the game pass them by? Is it a deeper issue of mental health or drug abuse?
