Story from EGRMag

Quote:
Everest Poker, which claims to be the only European-facing online poker operator with an office in Massachusetts, communicated with Rep. Winslow during the drafting process and, according to a statement, believes the amendment strikes the proper balance between “rigorous oversight and creating a sustainable market”.

What kind of timeframe are we looking at? Before or after the casinos open?

Weird that EGR is the only source. I don't get any results from google news search.
Casper, I really hope it's before casinos open, we would be looking to a 3-5 years timeframe.

A little more detailed also.

Assuming Winslow’s amendment gets passed – quite possibly as early as September - specific regulations would have to then be drawn up.

From the same article on Gambling911 (not sure how good of a source that is), it says the site hopes to be up by mid-2013

Well the first thing we need to be watching for is it getting passed. Nobody really knows how long it will take to get things rolling IMO.

Regardless, it will be before a B&M I think..

With RI having strong interest in full casinos, and CT already in place with FW and Mohegan Sun. Things should be interesting in the next 3 years, online and live, for New England/North East.

Vegas see a drastic slump in tourism or big fails for upcoming casinos for Ma. and RI and/or FW and MS will see a drop in $$.... honestly idk business finance, and thats my uneducated opinion.

thnx for the follow up. So it seems we are looking at the amendment to officially attached sometime in the fall. Hopefully we'll see some more interest and competition from other poker rooms by then.

That would be sweet since Crosby said they aren't planning on handing out licenses for the casinos till at least 2014.

B&M

Quote:
Stephen P. Crosby, chairman of the commission, said he was sympathetic to the mayor's impatience about the timetable, but he didn't think the panel could speed up its estimate that casino resorts could open in three to five years. Under its estimated schedule, the commission may not award bids for casino resorts until 2014 at the earliest, according to its web site.

Snap call. I live 20min North of Boston. Bizarro how Everest has an office in MA IMO.

From my understanding Everest itself doesn't have an office in MA but the company that provides the software does. I've seen job listings on Monster before.

TBadr I'm sad as well with regards to the licenses.
