Maybe because they're also humans and realize that their lives aren't in danger, but if they do get caught murder/attempted murder is alot worse than armed robbery and there's absolutely zero point in it? Or maybe they just don't want to kill people? The knowledge that the guards aren't armed is probably what saved his life and enabled him to do great job of doing his job - which is protecting the assets of the casino.

If the security guards were armed, this would have all gotten much much messier.

If I was a robber and I saw some wanna be paparazzi or paparazzi filming away without regard I'd be tempted to shoot him in the foot just for being so stupid.

Or it wouldn't have happened. How many U.S. casinos have been robbed by some stick up kids?

If they were armed tho it couldve deterred the robbers from attempting such a heist.

Not sure on their laws, however over here depending on the situation (EVERYTHING IS SITUATIONAL) guards are sometimes required to take a step back before using deadly force.

People don't realize the effect a gun's presence has. I'm not saying every time there's a poker game it's a good idea to have guns around. But having guns present in the hands of PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED men who know how to handle guns and can make good decisions of when to use their firearms is a huge factor. There must be millions of people who have decided not to rob casinos, grocery store clerks, etc, because security had guns.

Not more than 10 years if nobody was hurt. In this case maybe 5.
