Re: EGR article - Zynga poker opens real money poker tender...

A bit pointless starting a thread with a link to a subscribe-only article IMHO

Here's an article I found where no subscription is needed (date 4th July 2012)

Zynga all-in to acquire Bwin (ongame)

Re: EGR article - Zynga poker opens real money poker tender...

My Dad (I love my Dad) has hassled me for gambling ever since I first mentioned that I played poker. A few months ago he put the Zynga app on his phone. He says stuff like "I have never won a hand when I had A8 in the hole" and "to me there is no pattern to poker. You do have to see the flop if you expect to win. you just can't fold every hand. And I find that pocket A's etc don't mean squat." These are exact quotes, both from today's IM sesh with him that started out with him saying "I'm up to $1,475,000 on zynga."

He also told me this morning that he only plays in the 80k BI games now, because nobody ever folds in the smaller games. You know what's coming...

me: so you moved up where they respect your raises?

him: yes...haven't lost in weeks.

Dear Poker Gods...please do not reveal that Zynga is going to have a real money component to my Dad. Thanks.

Re: EGR article - Zynga poker opens real money poker tender...

With all the rumblings about Zynga Poker becoming a real-money site, I sure as hell hope they redo their software. It's awful.

The player pool, on the other hand, is gold. In a perfect world, Zynga would buy Full Tilt's dormant software, merge it with their existing player pool, then hire someone like Lee Jones to run the place.

GTech is bidding to provide their poker software?

That would probably mean some variation of Boss Media's software, state-of-the-art by 2003 standards.

Poker boom part 2 ... this would be the biggest fish pond in the history of poker.

The software is some of the worst ever though. They would need to find a completely different platform. It's close to unplayable.

A lot of it probably has to do with licensing, payment processing, identity verification, cheating and fraud prevention, affiliate programs, bonus offers, customer support etc all things Zynga has 0 experience with and would probably like to avoid having to hire people for. It's not just a matter of creating virtual poker tables (which they already have).

I always thought it was huge but someone said there that there are 350k online at the minute.

How many of them are from america? That wont be alowd to play if it is real cash.

Also how many of the others that are not from america would actualy play cash games.

Surely most of the peopl on there if they wanted to play for real cash then they would just set up a pokerstars account?
