Is Dwan really broke? Is Dwan really broke?

I never really lent much creedence to the rumours until i saw this on twitter.
https://twitter.com/TomDwan/status/486371345869975553

Was he really looking for a backer for the main event? Or is my comprehension of this twitter post a complete fail (wouldn't be the first). Normally i wouldn't post this, but he was by far my favorite poker player to watch on tv in cash games. Having said that his play style is such that he could absolutely go broke some day.

We'll he just got at least $700,000 in 9th place money and he got that amount last year, but that could be gone, but I would say making $700,000 tonight he ain't broke, unless he owed it to people...

The signs absolutely point to him having a thin bankroll. Won't play jungleman online, didn't play in the one drop, looking for backers for smallish (for him) tournament buyins. Refuses to do any interviews or elaborate at all on his "issue" with full tilt.

Like i said im no dwan hater. In fact i think the kid is a genius and probably one of the best NL cash game players on earth. That being said what bilzerian said about him, and about almost all poker players is likely 100% correct. He said they get used to winning at a high rate, and start living above their heads, and before you know it variance comes to slap them on the arse and they are bust because they are living above their means.

All of them are broke or going broke. You think they can all live off playing poker with chinese billionaires?
And the online games are all being solved right now. Online competition is too tough nowadays.
Poker celebrities are becoming extinct.

I love Tom's new book. Some infinite wisdom in there you won't find anywhere else as he shares his secrets. Here is one of my favorite nuggets:

"I don't play any two suited cards. I play any two non-suited cards. That way I am drawing at two different flushes"

You misinterpreted the tweet. He was trying to book extra action on himself (so making the tournament a bigger buyin than 10k) and it was going to cost $2500 for every 10% of action he wanted to add on to the buyin.

Idk if he's broke but I think he is close to broke. He didn't play any high events this year and was seen railing a 100k event at aria last week. If he has lots of $ he surely wouldn't be missing out on all the high roller & super high roller tournaments.

So tom was willing to bet that he has an ROI over 150% even after having half his stack blinded off? Clearly +EV to bet against him although I doubt many are liquid enough to ship him 1mil if he wins.

He played the 100k super high roller at bellagio a few weeks ago. He almost never plays tournaments so it doesn't seem meaningful that he didn't play a couple of the 100k's (that probably aren't even great value) of the summer.

Or maybe because Tom Dwan isn't a tournament player and has access to 10x bigger cash games wherein he can play a game he's actually good at?

This thread should be changed to why hasn't Tom Dwan addressed his "Big Issue" with Full Tilt Poker.

He appears to online broke atm fwiw.

You would think this thread would stop for a month at least since it was confirmed that Dwan won a bazillion dollars playing the hold em computer. But nope...guess the fanboys just want him to respond one time.

I am not worried about Tom. He is a good guy and he has a lot of friends who pay him to play. I don't think that he is playing with his own money the cash games. If he wins he keep the %

That was a level by jungleman dude. He didn't win no 1.5 million dollars playing the machine at 20/40 limit holdem....

Except he's worth about 100 million (albeit from shady sources), and they aren't worth 5%of that.
