running a business and having talented rock stars sign guitars is a little different than having asking for an autographs of a donkament player. sorry, its odd to me.

Someone post the Matusow interview where Dutch comes up from behind him and asks him all seriously: Do you ever drink your own piss?

Edit: Nevermind, already posted.

this is pretty damn funny.

This along with the drinking piss and paying for an autograph thing might just be his weird/clever humor.

It's also pretty goddamn crazy though

I am not sure you can blame it all on the mental issues but when you start throwing around words like crazy, you might want to check yourself a bit.

BTW, since Dutch stole so much money and clearly he is balling out of control, where is that money? I mean, I don't see him driving Bentley's or anything and I have known the kid for years. I think like most things the myth is much larger than the reality.

Of course I realize I can't possibly defend Dutch because goodness knows all the no lives will be all over me immediately. Some people lost some money on a young kids bad judgment and that really sucks but if you played online poker at that time there were a lot of risks. It never seems to get mentioned that at that time people had up sites that told people how to fraud these online companies and that is exactly what a lot of losers did. The winners got left holding the bag which absolutely sucks but this story is hardly black and white.

Making fun of someone for mental illness is wrong, I don't care how immature you are. And yes I get what NVG is about, it is about small people taking shots at people that matter so they feel better about themselves. Even though it likely doesn't make you a great person I am sure it has that exact effect.
WTF

Since when does Dutch matter?

Do you fall off your chair in stunned surprise everytime you see off-the-felt coverage from the WSOP or any other poker tournament where people frequently line up by the dozens to get autographs or have their picture taken with various poker players?

It may come as a shock to you, but it's pretty common behaviour also amongst grown adults who live fairly well-adjusted lifes.

It's not my thing (I've only asked for one autograph in my life and I was around 13 at the time), but I really can't see what is so surprising about it that it needs to be pointed out and ridiculed in this thread...

yea, it's not my bag either, but there's nothing off the wall odd about asking for his autograph.

weirdo
For someone named after such a cool band, you sure are a mega-tool, sublime. With poker players having been all over TV, thus achieving a degree of pseudo-celebrity over the last few years, what's wrong with a poker player/fan decorating his poker room with cards signed by professional poker players? Sure it's a little cheesy, but whatever. Think before you talk ****, you d-bag.

Dutch is a nice guy and only means well.

Bumped into him once on a smoke break and he was easy to chat with.

He did come off a bit strange but in the way geniouses or autistic savants do.

I'm a little skeptical about him entering college at 12 and then graduating from law school at 18. I guess it is possible.

Anyone know which college and or law school he went to?

I have no doubts that he did.

When his head is straight he comes across shockingly smart. Sadly, when it's not, he comes across as a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

Actually, I think if the guy ever gets his **** together and can learn to play poker in a non-manic state he'll start crushing the tourney circuit. I have a theory (which I admit is nothing more than a semi-educated guess) that he thinks he plays better poker when he's nearly hyper-manic, and he knows that so he lets himself get that way. As far as I know he's never come right out and said that, but I know a few other folks with significant bipolar that do the same thing in their lives.

jmho...

He certainly sounds a little nutso... not asks known-schizo washed up poker players for their autograph nutso; not has a "signature hand" nutso; not carries around a large stack of said 'signature' cards nutso; not "Dude, uhhh, you must have me confused with someone else" nutso, but yeah, a little nusto. I'd say he's at least the second-most nutso person in that exchange.

SO sad - played RIO cash game last week (Tuesday night, July 1st) about 2 a.m. and we were playing a 2/5 nl...he sits down at the table with a red sharpie and a cigarette case (old school 40's retro looking that has a playing card attached somehow - think it was the Jack of Diamonds but not sure)...he was wasted. At first I didn't recognize him (he looked pretty bad) but then I saw the bracelet and put it together after he started talking incoherently with the table. He couldn't put a sentance together and definitely seemed to be on something. He short bought for $100 played like 2 hands and got up (left his chips)...he came back 45 minutes later and picked up his stack to move to another table.

I just felt bad for the guy most of all. Yeah, I know most would say "but he has a bracelet and is brilliant, etc." but I just felt bad that he was such a mess. Hope he has someone close who can help him get straightened out medically.

From pokernews main event coverage:

Quote:

Dutch Boyd = Clark Kent?

Dutch Boyd has entered into the Orange section and is walking around each table, glancing over players and watching some of the action take place.

At first, one might ask why they're letting a non-player walk through the tournament area. However, Dutch is wearing a media badge which happens to be allowing him uninterrupted access to the players.

Dutch is wearing his typical attire: sunglasses, baggy clothes, do-rag and all. We're not sure exactly what he's reporting on, or who he's reporting to.
