It takes hundreds of thousands of hands to realize 3ptbb over a small sample.

I have a spreadsheet that calculates this if you want to take a peak.

I'm DLing open office right now to run the spreadsheet as I wiped my computer recently, but to realize a 3ptbb within 50% (at least 1.5 ptbb) with 95% confidence is well into the 200k hand range. Smaller edges with tighter resolution takes millions of hands.
Word, so yeah like I said I'm not really a math guy so you're right about that. But I did mention that 3ptbb/100 would be a big underestimate, I just thought it might be high enough even at that to squeak out a higher % of certainty. But yeah, sounds like around 7 or something it would be high enough to be realized near 100% over 50k hands? Whatever it is is def not unrealistic for his edge over some winning low/midstakes reg.

Re: DURRRRS MILLION DOLLAR CHALLENGE (Ivey and PA accept)

If Durr's edge was only a couple ptbb against 10/20 and 25/50 HU players, would not they constantly be trying to take shots against him?

I mean its completely natural for people to overestimate their edge, especially HU. And if durrr's real edge against top non nosebleed HU players was only a couple ptbb, there would be plenty of those tho think they have an edge on him and willing to take their chances. And he would not have to do this challenge.

also his winrate will plateau at some point, the number won't keep going up until the NL200 grinder won't even ever win a pot or something. there is a limit to how big your edge can be in poker
Right, but the point is once the 200nl grinder reaches this oblivion state where he goes on monkey tilt, the bet is as good as lost. He may regroup and fix his WR further down the track, but the bet is sealed.

This can not be displayed in a simple simulation. Grinders chances of winning are not just one in 20 or whatever it was according to the graph. Its 1 in 20 * the chance that Durrr does not get under his skin and put him on monkey tilt somewhere along the track. Thats pretty unlikely

Re: DURRRRS MILLION DOLLAR CHALLENGE (Ivey and PA accept)

Look, No 200NL grinder is ever going to play Durr for any significant amount of money, and Durr is never going to play HU 200NL for any significant number of hands.

So we all know Durr has a huge edge over a 200 NL grinder but nobody has the slightest clue of the exact size of the edge so all this argument about it has less value than an attempt to fart the star spangled banner.

If you absolutely must quantify the edge, lets just agree that Durr has a better than 5-1 and a worse than 500-1 edge to be up on a 200 NL grinder over 50k hands and just STFO about it already.

Still, if I don't see them playing, I won't believe it will actually take place.

Durrrr has clawed back $1M since being down $3M roughly? He must feel this is the best way to get back in the green, starting the challenge
