Jungle shipped the 500K and low and behold durrs 1.5mil was not in the escrow account. Straight scam IMO.
Was the escrow account at a bank or at full tilt or somewhere else? Did he wire funds or send a check or send full tilt money?

Not sure but I think Doug was insinuating that Ivey was just as guilty for scamming because Dwan's money was never sent to Ivey's account and he still let the challenge start.

Phil Ivey apparenly held the ecrow. This just adds to the scammyness of this situation. Complete scam.

Yeah super scammy that the money was never escrowed. Had it been, the judges would have (or should have) awarded it to Jungle by now and this would all be over.

My ass.

Durrrr was a big loser vs jungle when he was actively playing HUNL back in 2010-12. He will be so out of touch with how HUNL plays now that he will get absolutely crushed by most 5/10 regs let alone a top 3 nl player in the world.

Let's cross book and I'll spot you 10bb/100 if durrr ever restarts this challenge.

IIRC, durrrr made jungle escrow with Ivey and said Ivey'd vouch for him, but Ivey never said he'd vouch for durrrr

When you use another poker player as escrow for a bet you are just asking for problems -- yet guys continue to do so despite the track record. That said, Phil should have told Jungle that he had not yet received Durr's money when the challenge started.

A law firm would have held that money in-Trust, documented the terms of the bet for a few grand, and advised that the money was in place so that the Challenge could begin as agreed. Using Ivey instead, not so much...

Dumb from the start.

So you jump in this message out of nowhere, obviously to disagree but instead of a counter argument you just hurl insults.

But I have the low IQ.

Ok buddy

Has Ivey made any comment on the situation? I haven't followed this very closely.

Is jungle just being super patient, so as to not scare the fish away, in hopes the challenge resumes? If he has dirt on durrrr you'd think it would have been spilled by now.

Ivey agreed to hold jungle's escrow. I seem to remember Ivey commenting somewhere that he never agreed to vouch for Dwan, but I could be mistaken about that.

Durr is under the protection of the Triads now. As soon as this changes, Jungle will put a call in to his hitman.

And there's no reason for Dwan to send money over ever since him and Ivey probably both figured Dwan would crush and win. Losing was never even a thought in his mind until all of a sudden he was losing.

I get the scammy part of holding someone else's money in Escrow. Supposedly Jungle said he was cool w with the situation as of right now which is weird.

Dwan can't handle losing in the spotlight. Both him and ivey are from NJ they are in on it together 100%

Didn't jungle kind of insinuate or suggest on joeys pod that dwan helped him get into certain games / has played with dwan since which makes sense why he's not full on outing everything (though that wouldn't do really anything at this point I presume?)

He also said they are on good terms / in contact and that dwan still plans on playing or some ****

"Ivey never vouched. He told me personally and didn't now what I was talking about when I mentioned the vouch.

I'll post a more detailed response of all my issues with Tom if continues to be unresponsive. I learned that there is actually some good(?) reason to give him some time and for his silence, so I'll wait some more. A large part of the issue for not revealing all information is because many people involved are friends of mine, and it's out of respect to them.

Somehow Tom constantly has a never-ending life jam and conveniently can't continue..."
- jungleman in 2014

this + jungleman's recent pod and AMA should shed enough light on the issue for this topic to finally die.
I like Doug but the way he presented it in polkernews made it look like it's as simple as Jungle, Tom and Ivey being three kids in a school yard making deals with lunch money. The issue is obviously more complex than that and it's really not our place to pretend we know exactly what happened.
I'll only say I have absolutely no love for Tom Dwan but I find it funny how random forum microstakes grinders are way more tilted cause of the whole thing than the guy who actually got ripped off for 1.5M.

Obviously people looked up to dean because he was a 2+2 poster who climbed from the micros to the highest stakes, giving fellow 2+2'ers hope that they could do the same.

Then it turned out that dean was actually a moran, incapable of understanding GTO, game theory, math, or really the fundamental basis of poker strategy. The fact that dean could beat the highest stakes without understanding these concepts made him even more of a hero to 2+2 since most on here also think GTO and game theory are just nerd words and applauded dean for standing up to the nerds and their fancy talk.

Finally it was revealed that dean was just a lowlife scammer who luckboxed his way into playing games with Guy, and the hopes and dreams of 2+2 were dashed, leading to the anti-dean vitriol you see on here now.
