I would argue that's another con in the Twitch column, not a pro. The only way to pick up viewers is to have them specifically seek you out. The only exception to this is front page time, which Twitch doles out sparingly to poker streamers these days, and mostly to the top 3 guys.

This caps the audience. Even the biggest streamers have relatively low follower numbers, and their growth is slowing.

The exact opposite is true. The majority of views are from non-subscribers, and 60-70% of views come from discovery features (home page, recommended videos).

If YouTube thinks you might be interested in poker, it shoves poker videos in your face. Lots of randoms click these. There are tons of noobs in the YouTube comments and watching the streams.

YouTube has been even more in-your-face with live streams lately. Sometimes I get live notifications for channels that I don't even sub to, but have maybe watched a few times.

Is there any way to view who is currently streaming on youtube? I do see doug is livestreaming as one of ~50 thumbnails on my home page but besides that can't see who else is streaming on youtube at the moment out of my 2k+ subscriptions (possible there is no one else lol) Joeys podcasts will show up when they are live, but for some reason lots of my gaming subs who stream on youtube don't show up unless I go to their channel

If youtube ups its chat features it could be a good live streaming platform, hopefully this works out for doug I just feel like it's one of those moves that is the opposite of what the majority of people do (most will start with small youtube streams then move to twitch to expand with their small audience instead of taking a bigger audience and isolating it down to a smaller streaming platform / smaller potential audience ) Twitch is nicer for the viewer as well as they can jump around streams easier, if you have to load up youtube for a stream people are less likely to include the youtube stream as one of a few they might be following throughout the day.
He also misses out on when people stop their streams and host someone , they can't host a youtube stream :P

My front page is peppered with lo-fi/chillhop and esports streams because I have a passing interest in those things lol

Yeah YouTube is kind of an indie site, but I'm sure if they get the word out it can catch on. Maybe one day they'll even go public.

dam lol,

If Doug embraces the 3-14 yr old demographic from youtube he could have hundreds of thousands of concurrent viewers on youtube , just noticed some of those toy review channels that get millions of views or child gaming channels get hella views on live streams

Pretty sure doug is just switching streaming to YouTube for his push for 100k subs and beyond

hmm would you happen to be basing this on him in fact explicitly saying he wishes to grow a bigger audience by switching?

What happened to people who subscribed to Doug's Twitch for a few months or longer? Are they getting a refund?

A version without music does exist, so there will be highlights soon.
Do you happen to know the Music channel he was streaming primarily during the 25k. He mentioned it at some point. It escapes me now.

Doug, while you stream, how many other tables/other activities do you usually have going on on the side?

Doug is rolling tonight, FT the PP $5k and chip leader in 888 $1k with 61 to go. Both still going.

6 left in the 5k, $271k up top

This actually wouldn't be enough for the record streamed score. #1 was Doug in the WCOOP high roller last year for 455k. Guess he can still break that in the 888 $1k tonight though lol
