lol tonight on 50/100 LATB josh straddle/shove blind for ~6.5k , Doug UTG open shoves $60k with A5dd with someone behind him having 65k and covering him / few 20-40k stacks. All folds so no 100k pot unfortunately

how rich lol (I guess it's a 10bb shove with the straddle but still a funny hand albeit standard)

Insanely rich. He said he stopped backing people "because he didn't have the time to devote/properly coach them." Just about all other backers would continue profiting while subtly begin coaching less.

I think the three potentail holdings that you mention are way too good and too playable to 3-bet them at a high frequency. I'd call those way most of the time over 3-betting them and turning them into bluffs. 86s plays somewhat worse than specifically the three mentioned by you and should be 3b at a much higher frequency than those.

Might be wrong here but I'd go about playing all these hands that way.

We don't know Doug's game plan for LATB and Alex specifically though and I think when it comes to these two players it plays a big part that the DONGERS are out on the table and they -much to our amusement- want to see who had the bigger donger here...

Yeah it did look really risky at first glance but I suppose it's similar to a situation with 10bb stacks who will all call with only TT+, AQ+ (maybe even tighter than that)? A5s would be a fine shove then. But would it be better to flat with your whole continuing range instead?

OK so I got curious about who this Doug Polk is. So I fired up YouTube on the big screen, and my first thought is that I'd like to reach out with a big pair of scissors and lop off that hair spike thing he's got going. So tilting.

It's gonna take awhile for me to focus on what he's saying. I'll just squint until I'm fully desensitized...

Sorry Doug no offense. I'm just an old guy. These crazy kids and their newfangled ideas ...

Cant decide which is more lame.

Dnegs being nominated for podcast (honestly I didn't know he even he had one )

Great vids, enjoying them a lot besides the "you will be in a tough spot when you face a 4bet" over and over.

It really is weird how mainstream poker seems to dislike Doug so much. I heard the LATB commentators talking about how they had more viewers watching the black countdown screen on Doug Polk night then they ever had for any other show. Their peak pre Doug was about 1.5k at the end of a 4 hour show. The Doug night had 3.5k+ for over 6 hours.

What Poker media do I hear people talking about in the local poker room? Doug Polks Youtube.(And some Trooper)

Hopefully they start to give Doug the recognition he deserves. He will be the DNegs for the younger generation but lets hope he doesn't sell out like Negs.

As always want to thank everyone for the kind words, lot of nice stuff being said here about the channel and the content I have been putting out.

As far as the American Poker Awards go, it is clearly ridiculous that I wasn't even nominated in the categories of Media/Content/Twitch. You can make some reasonable counter arguments for each category, but at the end of the day, I got the most unique views across twitch/youtube in 2016 and didnt manage to get a top 4 nomination across the board. That just seems totally ridiculous to me.

Also, I think we all know I have not done myself any favors to win over the hearts and minds of the panel that decides who gets the awards or not (#EntrepenuerLife, More Rake is better, etc). However at the end of the day, if the AMERICAN POKER AWARDS are not even going to recognize the American who has done the most to grow in the last year, it calls into question the legitimacy of the organization imo.

As far as the twitch streamer nomination goes, it sort of doesnt matter, as you have to give the win to Jcarver. Also the rest of the guys are good guys who have worked hard to develop their brands, but again, I averaged 2nd-3rd highest viewership all year and had the largest twitch score twice. If that isn't worthy of a nomination for top 4, they may want to consider the system.

All in all, I don't think its a big deal. Many people don't even know what these awards are, and the people that do have to understand at some level, if you are not going to include the people who should actually be nominated for awards, why even have them to begin with.

I will say I am rooting for Joe Ingram to take down podcast of the year, although who knows if he is going to be victorious over Dnegs, who did six podcasts over a year and received a nomination (congrats!).

The video of the hand with Torelli: to me is clear that Doug know little about live poker, and is fair to say that Torelli should have a good read on him, anyway that was a fun hand, I would love Torelli do it a video also give us some insight of his thought process.

That was pretty much my take. Sounds like people who like to pat each other on the back patting each other on the back. Not at all surprised people are excluded.

"Maybe he's bluffing I call"

18 minutes of Doug rationalizing why three-betting an elite-player UTG raiser with air and then tripple-barrling your 400BB-effective stack off to him is good poker strategy.

Elite players have a folding range on the river. Guy made a hilariously bad calldown and happened to get lucky. I'm not sure what all the fuss about this hand is.

How often was Doug 3-betting in that game? I mean the majority of 3-bet hands (from a loose 3-better) seem to include a ton of hands that beat him there. Ax suited, AT,J,Q,K. Some KQ hands. Paris like 77, 22, and even 33 as well are well within Doug's 3bet range. Sure he will have air here sometimes as well, but I think most of the time this line is a value line since on the turn it's clear he isn't folding. If he thinks Doug is 3betting light, why not 4-bet with the intention of folding to a 5-bet shove? Was his intention to just call down and fold if a spade came? How much worse can the board get for JJ?
