Since I don't follow pros (except for maybe one) or poker on tv, I've never seen the Selbst stuff...that was incredible. Love how she's breaking down in tears from getting a call after 6-betting with 4's.

Please bring back Polkernews, it was far and away better than any other content you put out. "Tabletalk" is an ok concept, but I wasn't really digging just completely ripping off another show in favor of your own originality, which is why I liked your vids in the first place. Just my 2 cents, which are probably worth about .350 cents.

He was ripping off literally every news show ever with the Polkernews concept. You could argue that Tabletalk is more original because it isn't whored out in every single city in the US for the past 800 years.

The message is clear.

We need to establish a chip runner reporting network where cash game buyins are tracked.

totally agree

I'm glad you avoided using "LOL " as it is overused and thus watered down to usually just mean slightly funny, cute, maybe cracked a small smile for a nano sec. in sort of a good knock knock joke kinda way.

Was same as you in literally Laughing Out Loud several spots in that video.

I'm sorry if this has been addressed, but I recall Doug mentioning on a recent podcast with Joe Ingram that he had created an additional youtube channel to cover non poker related content.

Does anyone know the name of this youtube channel? Did Doug abandon the idea?

I could make a joke here about the mysterious name that Doug came up with that makes it difficult to find his channel, but I'll refrain from doing so and just answer your question. The name of Doug Polk's channel that he created to discuss non-poker related content is:

I would imagine the Twitch crowd consists of a good chunk of non-poker players. The video topic captures a crossover audience. You don't have to play poker to want to know how much a 2016 player can make. If he was pulling 78k views on a strat video on SB ranges I'd be on your side but not on a universal topic like how much money they have?

I enjoyed Polkernews, thought it was good content. But there were several things that I felt made it hard to reproduce with high quality.

First off, on slow weeks viewership just got crushed. Not that I think that will be totally avoided here with table talk, but having 2 people discuss opinions certainly makes it at least a bit better.

Second, if you look at the popularity of what I was putting out, Polkernews simply did not put up the kinds of numbers that more poker related videos did. Not only did it put up worse numbers by a large margin, the episodes had very low shelf life, so after 2-3 days they would accumulate almost zero views.

By contrast, Poker Hands still gets views on almost every episode for months. It also gets way more interest out of the gate, and the casual audience enjoys it way more. Add to this that polkernews probably took ~3x as long to make, and often we had to get pretty creative that took a lot of time, and it just seemed to not be worth it anymore.

I will say though, I want to make sure to always play some role of news in the world of poker. Thats one of the big reasons why I ended up deciding to do this show with Joey. I think its an important thing. So in conclusion, I might still from time to time put out a special edition of polkernews where I have some good ideas and there are a lot of topics out there to discuss, but I am going to give Table Talk a fair chance.

I have only put out a couple videos, I am trying to focus on the poker channel more than this channel at the moment. I will still put out an occasional video on that channel when I want to, I just wanted somewhere I could put non poker related stuff if I had a good idea.

I think that the youtube audience for poker is expanding. By putting out good content, you not only bring new people in, you more successfully keep people that are already watching your content.

There are many people that worked in spaces with the size of poker that have accumulated 300-500k subs, so I think there is space here for me to one day be in that range as well. If you look at pokerstars for example, they have almost 260k subs.

Unlike with many platforms, companies tend to underperform on youtube compared to personalities. Look at the top 100 youtube channels, there are not many companies at all. So Pokerstars having 260k subs tells me there is room for an individual who puts out good content to one day have at least that, if not more.

Also, I have been putting content out almost daily for 5 months. That will very much help you build an audience. I hope this continues as I very much love the work that I am currently doing and this is some of the most fun I have had in a long time.

WCG, definitely makes sense. Maybe a monthly or quarterly Polker News would work? I'm not sure why I didn't like Tabletalk more, as I love both of you and Joey's content individually. I'll definitely keep watching, what you guys are doing to attempt to make poker more fun/grow the game is awesome.

Btw, props on how GTO you are with how you market your vids. The new titles are genius for snagging the casual crowd. Best of luck on your new adventure, RIP HUNLHE

Edit: Have you considered calling it "Polker Hands?"

Thoughts on Ep 2 (haven't watched 1st ep yet)

Loved the show ...period! WP guys
The countdown scroll on the right is great & enables easy navigation to scroll through topics if they are of no interest
Good mix of topics, gossip & informed views - also like the general flow between you both
Joey: Salmon isn't your colour Bro. Idea for developing your brand: why don't you wear the same shirt for these shows. Doesn't matter what it is, but keep the colour/style consistent. Also, the mic on your side is huge - surely you can place this below the camera level..?
Doug: Give to charity you tight ass! Genuine LOL moment there...
