The $25k winner claims he mistyped his email address - "eddie.zengot" instead of "eddie.zeng95." O and T are right below 9 and 5 on most keyboards so it does make sense. Terrible beat if he doesn't get the money, but good news for everyone else if there's a redraw

Unless he put in multiple entries? i.e. 8? entries with zeng95 and another with zengot?

I think Doug Polk is right to look for diversification into making some non poker related YouTube content. The market is becoming saturated to the point where there aren't enough spare hours in the day to watch all of the good poker YouTubers and Vloggers. Recently I've watched only some of Doug's whereas before I watched all of his YouTube and Vlog output.

As well as the poker audience being relatively narrow it will also be tough to continue to produce original and funny material because poker as a topic is a relatively narrow one.

i like doug and his videos but stepping outside of poker is a bad idea i think. being good at analytics is one thing but in life the intangibles are real, unlike poker. hes funny for a poker blogger maybe but as far as stand ups and real comedians go hes going to seem hacky. also no one will be able to relate to a rich young poker player who is kinda smug lol .

the titles of Doug's vids are getting more and more clickbaitey. I understand that it's supposed to appeal to wider audience, but I'm pretty sure that just as many people are strongly turned off by it, so unless Doug personally likes it when his titltes look like they were targeted at 5 year olds, I don't think there is a net gain there.

One might argue that we want people attracted by clickbaits to get into poker rather than more sophisticated audience, but I'm not sure if this is right line of thinking.

"Clickbait" is defined pretty broadly in these sort of conversations, but generally it's supposed to refer to bait-and-switch videos or extremely deceptive/misleading thumbnails and titles.

For example, I recently saw a video titled "My wife is LEAVING me!", with a thumbnail of a woman packing her suitcase and a crying husband. Turns out she's just going on a trip for a few days. There are tons of videos like this on YouTube that straight up lie to you for clicks, and some people with millions of subscribers have great success doing this.

This has happened once on the Doug Polk channel. Not intentionally, but the wording of a title was confusing and a lot of people interpreted it to mean something else entirely. That's a legitimate gripe. But if you're complaining about capitalized words and superlatives, I really don't know what to tell you. Interesting titles will get more exposure than bland ones, and you're definitely in the minority if you're getting personally offended by this.

Ok, thanks! I do think he's making a mistake by having his vods for subs only, at least on twitch.

I'm pretty sure he intentionally makes his titles like that as a form of satire.

Online poker sponsorship would basically be setting his credibility and brand on fire. This "announcement of an announcement" thing is really dangerous in that regard anyway unless it is something worth that sort of dramatic nonsense.

I'd find him announcing some sort of candidacy for political office less surprising than a pokerstars sponsorship... with neither being all that likely...
