Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?

From Roy Winston's blog about playing a WSOP satellite:

"It was actually a tough line up for a WSOP satellite. One of the great things about the WSOP is that the field isn’t the regular group of grinders that you see everywhere. The group in much more diverse with a wider range of skill sets, which is the nicest way of me saying that some of the play is really pretty bad. This satellite had several strong players including Will “The Thrill”, Doug Lee, and several others I know to be solid."

The Superbomber rises from the ashes...

Another Kind Turn for Lee

Doug Lee was just all in preflop for 89,000 with pocket kings against Jeff Lisandro's AQ. The flop came A86, putting Lisandro in front. But the K on the turn propelled Lee back into the lead. The river was the 4, and Lee now has 200,000. Lisandro has slipped to 190,000.

Daniel N just referred to Doug Lee as "tool box" in his latest blog @ FCP fwiw.

i was playing 2-5 with doug lee recently where he was shortstacking for $200. he went all in and busted, and as he pulled out his rebuy he said,

"it's okay. i'm up a lot of money today. this is just peanuts. i play 6k a hand on blackjack. this is just peanuts."

Lee checked again, Phillips moved all in for his remaining 25,000 and Lee made the call, turning up KJDD for a flush draw vs. Phillips' AA. Lee couldn't get there on the river, which fell the 8 and Phillips doubled up to 113,000. Lee was left with 64,000.

check calling all in
gay river brought no diamond
dougs keen sense was off

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?

from Daniels blog:

Daniel - Poker Journal
Lots of Fun WSOP Stuff!
28 May 2009

First my bust out hand:

I was very unlucky all day and was down to 38k for the following hand. Blinds 500-1000 with a 100 ante the cut off makes it 2500. On the button I have AQ. I'm not folding the hand if I re-raise, so I decide to do something slightly tricky to possibly get Doug "ToolBox" Lee to make a big boo boo.
The guy put in two yellows (1000 each) and a baby blue (500) chip for 2500. After deliberating, I throw in two yellows, and a green 25,000 chip. Doug starts commentating and looks suspicious, so I spread my two yellow chips in front of me to take a closer look at the other chip. I say nothing.
He goes, "I think you made a mistake. You didn't mean to do that." Again, I say nothing, finally he goes all in, the first guy folds, and I'm essentially ALREADY all in having to call 10,000 more.
Doug turns over... get this... 33!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA that is so funny to me! Even if I DID make a mistake, I could easily have 66, or a hand like J-10 which puts him in a coin flip at best. Flop is Q-5-4... 3.... A and I'm out just like that.

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?

Jacob Eliminates Lee

With 25,000 in the middle, Mike Matusow, Doug Lee, and Alex Jacob saw a flop of 6 J 4. Matusow bet out 12,000 from the small blind, then Doug Lee raised to 35,000 from the big blind. Jacob then reraised to 175,000 from the cutoff. Matusow folded, and Lee announced he was all in, and Jacob, who had Lee covered, called.

Jacob showed A-J for top pair, while Lee turned over 6 4 for bottom two. The turn brought the A, giving Jacob the better two pair. The river was the K, and Lee hit the rail.

Jacob now has 370,000.

Doug got it in with the best hand. gg.

How did jacob call Lees all in and only wind up with 370K there was betting before the flop and Lee reraised Jacobs 175K flop bet before Jacob called.

It sounds like they both had nearly the same chips and Doug made a good play here.

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?

Dr. Pauly last night:

And of course, there were a few pros (cough, Doug Lee) who you looked at and thought, "How the hell did you find $40,000 to buy into this event?"

The Toolbox is nevermore. I have no clue how Doug Lee found $40K to play in the event. But he's one of the latest causalities.
