I personally despise Tony G. I think he's a total ass and he should get beat up several times for what he does. Phil Hellmuth is also a complete ahole. Annie Duke is less of one at the tables (afaik), but she's a scumbag for defending UB the way she does.
You see, Doug Lee Toolbox is unique. He is a toolbox angleshooter..... the supreme toolbox, if you will.
Another thing is... Annie and Phil have had plenty of threads made about them.
Doug Lee toolbox gets one. This one.
I would welcome some real-life anecdotes of non-toolbox behavior exhibited by Doug Lee toolbox, but I'm guessing we won't see much here.

Doug Lee has a certain humorous quality that these other people you mention do not have. Perhaps that's it in a nutshell. He's amusing..... even when he's being a complete toolbox. It's not always a "laugh at him" type of amusement. Sometimes it's a "laugh at the situation" kind of humor...... although most of the time it's both.
Those other people you mention are just aholes who should probably get beaten up and certainly (especially in Hellmuth's/Tony G's case) shouldn't have the fans that they do.
