just kidding! I play 2/5 with Doug Lee at the Bellagio quite a bit, he is an interesting guy. Shoots a LOT of angles when he plays, plays extremely unconventionally, and asks to see every hand after they are mucked. He's not busto, btw, he just plays 2/5 for fun and jumps back up to $100/200 LHE when he gets bored.

"Back up to $100-$200". Like somehow the planets would align and we would be fortunate enough that he considered that his regular game while he was in town.
And yes, "bored". His A-game consists of multiple min-buys as he shortstacks us limit donks into foolishly putting him all in with often 2, 3, or sometimes 5 outs! Over and over and over. And onetime I saw him win a pot.
Onetime Doug Lee sat down at an dead break table and immediately it filled up. True story.

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
Here's a good(ish) story
I have several friends who have played regularly with Doug, have known him for a while and are somewhat friendly with him.
One day during a tournament (either WSOP or BC or somehwre) one of them runs into Doug, walks up to him and says "Hey Doug." Lee doesnt acknowledge him but takes a napkin from the guy, autographs it and keeps walking.

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
i know him a bit and played with him a bunch one weekend in calgary, both tourneys and live. they called him the canadian super bomber (or just super bomber when you are actually in canada, but whatev) and they seemed to build the games around him.
he has real estate money independent of poker and if he is even close to a break even player overall i would be SHOCKED. i have never seen the super tool side of him but i knew him a bit before he thought of himself as famous. funny thread about someone who really can't play poker very well but thinks they can. hmmmmmmm.
go super bomber go. lol. poor doug kim, i think they may be polar opposites from all i can tell. i love the story of the dead table filling up around him. i will tell that one often.

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
In "Doug's photo Album 2" there are a series of pictures of Doug "visiting the hachems". These are all photos of framed photographs, some with Doug standing in front of these photos. None of the photos are of actual people (other than Doug). Did he break into their house?!?

Played at the TI Mixer yesterday (2/4 Limit) with JP OSU and a bunch of other 2+2ers (sorry, didn't get everyone's name). I was the fish on his right that no one knew.
Anyways, Doug comes in with a hottie that's probably 17 (not that I mind). Scopes out the action, then leaves. All the while, JP is telling us about this thread and about his encounter with Doug. Fun times.
I'm trying to figure out why he was there. Was he looking to get into the 2/5 NL action at TI?

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
The picture of Doug Lee with Moneymaker, Raymer, and Hachem makes me LOL everytime.
Also, I love the fact that he does his pose (sticking out the circuit event ring) in a solid 50% of his pictures.

I KNOW WHO HE IS! HE'S THE GUY BEHIND THE BLEEDING EDGE FORWARD THINKING WHITEPAPER ENTITLED "MINIMIZING BAD BEATS IN TOURNAMENTS"... This little national treasure was wisely PDF'd on his website to protect the obvious immense IP contained therein. I managed to transcribe an exerpt:
Minimizing Bad Beats in Tournaments
By Doug Lee
How many bad beat stories had you heard from someone in a tournament that probably
could have been prevented? Here are some strategies that I have learned to minimize bad
beats in tournaments:
1) Raise with your good hands (especially big pocket pairs) preflop.
2) After the flop, bet with your good hands (try to not check-raise).
3) If you flop a big hand and you see that someone is drawing, you should go all-in
first to protect your hand.
WP, NH, DOUG LEE FTW!
OKok, it's not a bomber, and it's not Canadian but that's the best I could find on short notice...

Doug will be entering all TV events for the 2006 World Series of Poker. Please stay tuned for the results.
In a shocking development, no further updates occured...
